Ranallo-I saw that too, but was too stunned to respond. I think most teams would take Thomas in a minute.

Earl-still working on the new name. I have some doozies that are unique. Some classic NHL or North American Hockey League players (remember the Norseman?), or a symptom of living in Buffalo. Tough to choose.

"Their achillies heel is Tim Thomas. If he keeps it up, they’re fine. But he’s not one they can hinge their future on."

He won the Vezina Trophy for Chris' sake...what kind of "achillies [sic] heel" wins a Vezina Trophy???

I believe this ( http://insider.espn.go.com/nhl/insider/news/story?id=4353620&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnhl%2finsider%2fnews%2fstory%3fid%3d4353620 ) is what Jared is referring to. I'd love to read his projections, but feel it's not worth the "insider" subscription insomuch as ESPN doesn't care about hockey.

Thanks John-I think they gave up a reliable defenseman for another d-man who is clearly on the downside of his career. Morris gets a $3.3M deal which negates whatever cap room was gained in trading Ward.

Jared-sorry I cannot help you. Gave up on SI years ago.

Boston needed cap room and Aaron Ward is a Carolinian at heart, he lives there, all that good stuff...the Bruins are fine. They have one of the best centers in the game and several top forwards. Their achillies heel is Tim Thomas. If he keeps it up, they're fine. But he's not one they can hinge their future on.

Yes, I think we're all painfully aware that Pasi is very unlikely to come back. Just saying it would be nice to see his fire again. If Kari would battle like Pasi he would be unstoppable. I do think we started to see a bit of fight in Kari toward the end of last season.

Oh, Pasi is done....he could not come back even if he wanted to and he has a sweet deal as an owner and goalie coach with his Lahti Pelicans

I don't believe there was anything hidden in the injury, from the team point of view they want to make sure they are ok with the doctor chosen. From Kari's point of view he wanted the team to be okay with this and make sure it was addressed. Why did the team wait so long to sogn him?

With Pavs and Moose the club will not be on solid footing for goal tending. One is a career back up at best (he works his butt off but he is still a back up and hopefully a goalie coach) and with Pavs he has shown his immaturity last season by pouting when he was sent to Chicago and he did not do well in the NHL so far...

Ben, I would love to see Pasi back again. Man, he was fun to watch!

It would be kinda crappy of Kari to not disclose his injury prior to signing his new contract. I don't think he would do that. Besides, isn't a "lower back injury" what sidelined him for a few weeks last season? This is likely a re-injury...I would hope he wouldn't wait until halfway throught he off-season to have the surgery. That wouldn't make any sense.
