The Thrashers have re-signed defenseman Boris Valabik to a multi-year deal Tuesday.
It will be announced later today. I will report back a little later with more details but, as always, I wanted you to know first.

World Be Free, Grier is older in his mid 30s and aprroaching that point that I don’t want him signed in Atlanta. I would much rather prefer Malhotra if he isn’t jerking us around or Dominic Moore. Both are good on the faceoff, both can help our pitiful PK, both can fit well on the 3rd line.

i know this is stupid but in a NHL 08 game, Noah Welch had a 82 overall rating
so this hguy has potential, thats what im trying to say. So maybe he can come in if someone gets injured… but I’d prefer Kulda cause he’s been waiting too long
Darn we have a lot of young guys on D …
And what ever happened to Lasu?

Lasu is still playing in Sweden. I imagine we’ll see him at prospect or full camp next summer.

I trust my gut, EOB. I’ve seen Goc from 2004 to the present in the playoffs. He’s not a “wow” guy. But I do think he’s a decent, capable bottom six player. And he shouldn’t break the bank. The issue is … does he want to give us the time of day? And, is Thrasher management keen on him. Grier, for me, is unmistakeable grit for puck battles. Sure, I’d like him to be younger. But, it is what it is. And what will Grier cost? It won’t be that tremendous to ink him.

Brendan, fair enough on Goc. But I just didn’t see it with him and that SJS didn’t even make him a qualifying offer makes me more gunshy. I am still hoping for Malhotra myself and someone above in this blog or another one mentioned Moore and I would say he seems like a decent plan B. I want to stay away from the old guys like Grier though. Why get them if Moore is out there or even someone mentioned Comrie?

I do like Dominic Moore, as well. I think he came up through Toronto, then got traded to Buffalo. I’m not sure why SJ didn’t make the qualifying offer to Goc, other than … that … perhaps they wanted to sign him for less than whatever the percentage of raise is required for a tender. Or, maybe the Sharks are thinking of pulling a trade, and they need cap room? I’m very leery of guessing what the Sharks will do. Last year, I wound up with egg on my face, predicting them to win the Stanley Cup, while watching them get eliminated in the 1st round, by Anaheim. San Jose won the President’s Trophy last year. Several internet and TV voices suggested changes were coming to SJ. Now, I’m not going to blame the opening round loss on Goc. Truthfully, I don’t know where to pinpoint blame. Honestly, I thought the Ducks played very well, and had a tremendous playoff campaign. Let’s not forget … they were tied with Detroit, in GAME SEVEN, with 3:00 left in regulation, before that series slipped away. If Anaheim had scored instead, they would have met the Blackhawks in the CF. So, in that regard, perhaps SJ finds a measure of comfort. They didn’t lose to a BAD TEAM, at #8 in the playoff field. All that … was caused by the St. Louis Blues leapfrogging up to sixth, from 13th in the Conference at Christmas. That pushed Columbus down to 7th seed, and Anaheim back to 8th. I doubt any Sharks fan really wanted Anaheim in the 1st round.

Vivlamore needs to hire Trixie, to rescue it.

I think Vivlamore actually hired Trixie’s evil sister, Nixie, which is why some of my posts get nixed.
