Randy... Michael Forney struggled with injuries for two years at North Dakota. He played last year in the USHL for Green Bay and had pretty good stats. However, he is not projected to make in the NHL, and would be considered a long shot.

I agree with Nikita. I don't think they should have brought back either Slater or Thornburn.

Oystrick, Crabb and maybe a 4th rounder and I think we could have a deal in the works for Savard (but they might have to throw in Kessel as "sweetener").

Thornton could be had for less, like maybe Crabb and some sticks Kovalchuk touched.

Chris-Were the Oystrick and Crabb resignings two way deals? If not, we're starting to run out of spots on the big boys club. A package deal in the works for Joe Thorton or Marc Savard? I wish......

You can over pay for Kovy, but I'd rather overpay for one of the top 5 offensive players in the league rather than some 3rd line bum, which Don Waddell has known to do in the past!

Kovy 10 years= 85-100 million sounds about right for a FRANCHISE player who is your CAPTAIN and the face of the organization.

If Kane develops like he should, and we get some more return on the players drafted this year as far as their contribution, we are not far away from becoming a contending playoff team year in and year out. Just need consistancy, and signig Kovy long term brings that stability to the team.

Brendan, your assertion w/r/t Colby Armstrong may prove to be true, but right now we don't have any way of knowing for sure. For all we know, the Thrashers tendered Colby a Q.O. that was for the customary 10% raise knowing full well that they would need more time to negotiate. In turn, Colby's agent may have filed for arbitration just to protect his client from getting screwed in negotiations.

The arbitration filing step seems simply like a part of the normal process and procedure to get the ball rolling. And as James Mirtle pointed out in his blog, only 2 of 15 cases last year actually went to an arbiter.

Colby just got married, and judging by some unfortunate internet links to his marriage website, to an Atlanta girl. I would think he is keen on staying in Atlanta for at least the next few years.

I am hopeful that a 3 year deal will get hammered out before the case even goes in front of a judge. My guess would be 3 years worth $7.5 - 8 M with perhaps a little more salary up front to create fiscal room for Bryan Little's raise, Peverley's new deal and hopefully Kovy's new contract.

The fact that we signed two goalies capable of playing at the AHL and presumably on occasion in the NHL must mean one of Moose, Kari or Pavs (my guess) are about to be history.
