Q- I have heard of the Utility Jacket trend. How would I wear it, where do I buy it?

A – What is the utility jacket? It’s basically for “roughing out outdoors”. The cut is usually boxy and loose-fitting—you’d need to be able to move around in this jacket. (Hence the name.) Fashion’s take is primarily military-inspired (If you’ve had a close look at the Spring 2010 runway looks, you would have noticed that military was a big trend), in khaki, olive, or neutral colors—and some with buckles, and zips, and even epaulettes.
Taking their cue from what could only be described as “street chic,” designers jazzed up the very “practical” utility jacket into one chic piece—one you can wear with jeans and cropped shorts or over a dress. I personally love it with floral dresses and cool sneakers—the look creates the perfect juxtaposition of pretty and grunge.
The style and cut you choose will really all depend on the look you’re going for: glammed up military, city slick, menswear-inspired, or downtime dressing.
Here are some style options that you can easily dress up or down (But as for the Balmain option, that’s something that’s very hard to “dress down” and afford! We can dream though.)
Guys -haven’t forgotten about you. Trend works for you too.
