Dear Jessica, I would love to add some color and update my work wardrobe without spending my kids’ college funds. Can you suggest any good places to find suits/suit jackets that are cute and current but not too trendy????

Boardroom dressing doesn’t have to be drab. Focus on tailored pieces and don’t shy away from accessories. They will only make you look unprofessional if you begin to resemble the office Christmas tree.
Pick one statement piece for your work wardrobe. I suggest going for a statement—but not blinding!—neckpiece. Maybe a colorful scarf or wrap is more your style.
Here are quick updates for your “professional” closet:
Banana Republic- great for quality + basics. There is also an outlet in Dawsonville at the North GA Premium Outlets. Love this bright scarf with basic black suit. We all own a black suit, this update won’t cost much.
Zara - in Lenox Square. Best part is to compare the look of their suits to high end designer names like Armani but no Armani prices.
JCrew- You can never go wrong at JCrew when shopping for updated basics.
And don’t forget about the shoes.!! You can easily update your suit with a hot pair of booties, heeled oxfords or pumps in animal print or faux animal skins.
