An Outkast reunion (sort of)

Together again -- in a way.

Together again -- in a way.

Just when the hope of seeing Andre 3000 and Big Boi in the same recording studio seemed to be slipping away, the Atlanta pair has announced a reunion, or sorts.

Big Boi recently wrote on his Tumblr that he’ll be adding a verse to a new version of the Frank Ocean song “Pink Matter,” which first appeared on Ocean’s smash debut “Channel Orange,” and on which Andre 3000 appears. The song, set to be released next week, is the first time in nearly six years the two will appear on a song together. Read the full story here.

Is it too much of a stretch to think this could signal the possibility of a new Outkast album? We can dream, right?

i just don’t get how you can be on top like they were, still be friends and not make a an album together. They were just spotted with there familes on a cruise together so they are still close. Initially Big Boi’s contract issues were a problem, and then Dre was shooting the Jimi Hendrix film overseas, but they have no excuses now, and they know the fans are dying for something. Hope they can put something together soon!

I really don’t think it’s Big Boi, I believe its Andre. Big has always said he is ready to do another album, I truly believe Andre really doesn’t want to.

There’s no need. IMO, 3000 is light years ahead of Big Boi creatively speaking.

No he was not light years ahead of Big Boi in my opinion, they were just so frigging good together, so B2 knew how to allow 3000 to have the light. BB is a BAD BOY!!!!!!!! Patience will get us a new album so just sit back and wait! Remeber this guys are artist, and if they are not feeling the tracks and music they putting it dont count on it to hit the stores. Creativity will get these guys back in the dungeon and we will get what we all want! Another Platinum album from them ATL BOYS!!!!

Their first album, Southernplayalisticadillacmusic, is one of the best rap albums ever. It’s a shame most folks only know the “newer” stuff.

They do not own the name “OutKast” the record company does. The record company won’t release them from the albums they owe, nor will it re-do their contract. It’s not personal between them two, just record company politics. It comes down to Music Business 101
