Since the AMAs are pretty much the People’s Choice Award of music – a nice tchotchke for the bookshelf, but not an award that carries much prestige, like, say, a Grammy – it doesn’t really matter who wins what.

If you are keeping track, Taylor Swift scored Favorite Female Country Artist (and has gotten SO much better at not making that faux-surprised face when her name is announced as the winner); Nicki Minaj looked annoyed when called up as the victor for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album; Linkin Park scored their fifth win in the Favorite Alternative Rock Artist category; and Favorite Soul/R&B Artist went to Usher, his eighth career AMA. He apparently said many things that required a bleep out by the censors and thanked his financial team.

But here’s why we love this show: the parade of performances.
