“Searching for Sugar Man” first opened in late July and arrived in Atlanta early last month (it’s still playing at the Tara).
And the incredible story of ‘70s singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez, continues to gain traction.
On Sunday (at 7 p.m., depending upon football), CBS’ “60 Minutes” correspondent Bob Simon will spotlight Rodriguez and director Malik Bendjelloul.
It’s the latest high-profile notice for Rodriguez, who performed on the “Late Show with David Letterman” in August, appeared at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, and in November, will embark on a tour of the U.K. (an American run is expected as well). Also, on Oct. 18, NPR’s “World Café” will air a “Searching for Sugar Man” special.
The film’s soundtrack is also available; here is a song to get you in a Sugar Man state of mind.
