Adele might be taking a break for her impending mommyhood, but the British songbird returned to her day job to cut the latest 007 theme song.
“Skyfall,” the song, was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with a 77-piece orchestra. It’s also Adele’s first recording since the release of the 24-million-selling “21” in early 2011.
The premiere of the song coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Bond film franchise on Oct. 5, which will be celebrated as Global James Bond Day.

No “The spy who loved me” (aka “nobody does it better”) on the list? Clearly not a fair poll…

I hope this song is good. The one Alicia Keys and Jack White did for Quantum of Solace was HORRIBLE!!!

Madonna’s “Die Another Day” wasn’t horrid… just unremarkable and forgettable. I did like Tina Turner’s “Goldeneye” and Nancy Sinatra’s “You Only Live Twice” …
I hope they also bring back the “007 Theme” – as in the action theme that used to play throughout the old movies. It may be a bit campy, but isn’t the whole series a giant witty pun in itself?

Does anyone notice a difference in Adele’s vocal performance since she conceived and is carrying that extra person around below her exceptional lungs?

I can only fit a certain number of items in a poll before it becomes longer than the story, which is why some of the other popular ones aren’t listed as choices. But there’s always the “other” option.
Thanks for participating!

I guess the Rolling Stones missed their shot. They will be in their 70s by the time the next Bond movie comes around after this one. They were in the running for this movie along with Duran Duran. The missed out last time to Alicia Keys and Jack White!?!

I guess with Adele singing the theme song we won’t be seeing her semi-nude silloutte bouncing across the screen to the opening credits as the song plays ala Sheena Easton in “For Your Eyes Only”.
Some things are better left sight unseen

Dame Shirley’s seductive “Goldfinger” was the best. It had the air of mystery that complimented the spy thriller.

I agree with an earlier comment… Diamonds Are Forever is at the top of my list. A View to a Kill w/Duran Duran??? Was that a joke!

I don’t get the hate for “Another Way to Die” from Keys & White. I thought it was pretty cool… The movie on the other hand…

“The Spy Who Loved Me” or “Moonraker” would be my favorite, but “Live and Let Die” is a good one too.

Hi Q – actually, whatever you think of the Duran song, it’s the only Bond theme to hit No. 1 on the charts, so its inclusion is worthy since it was obviously popular in its time!
Cheers,
Melissa

How about the erie music in Dr No where the woman is found dead, painted gold? You can hear the same music in 6 Underground. Like Chet Atkins, they only “stole from the best…”

I voted for Goldfinger (my favorite Bond movie), but would put A View to a Kill #2. In fact, the Duran Duran song was the best part about that movie. Can’ wait for Skyfall.
