We already know that Sugarland, .38 Special, Alex Hodges, Robert Spano, Gary Rossington, Bob Van Camp, Johnny Jenkins and “Skinny” Bobby Harper are being inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame next month.
We now know that Sugarland, .38 Special, the ASO Choir, “American Idol” alums (and real-life couple) Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young and up-and-coming singer Riley Biederer will perform at the Oct. 14 ceremony. There will also be “special guests” performing in honor of Rossington and Hodges.
Tickets for the show, to be held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and broadcast live on GPB, start at $60 (students are $20). The cocktail-attire event starts at 4 p.m. with red carpet arrivals and a cash bar; the ceremony and show kick off at 5 p.m.

Good for you 38 Special. Nothing can beat last year’s induction of Mother’s Finest, though!

@HAL -
I totally agree that Mother’s Finest was a great choice last year for the Hall of Fame and they are still kicking it big after 30+ years.
Too bad that politics got in the way when the original GA Hall of Fame was placed in Macon. If it had been in Atlanta it might still be operational and profitable. Nothing against Macon….but it is not known for being much of a tourist destination.

Sugarland? Are you serious. This so called Hall of Fame must be a joke.

Uhh David C, do you have a problem. They are in the top echelons of Georgian musicians. They’re success is rivaled by very few.

Sugarland is very deserving of this honor!! They are one of the most successful music acts to come from Georgia. They’ve won numerous Grammy awards, CMA awards, ACM awards and various songwriters awards, and not to mention their record sales. We will be attending the awards show and can’t wait to see them perform.

I’m sorry, Sugarland is just awful. Their last album was a joke.

Who are the idiots not giving Sugarland credence. Obviously your understanding of music is as shallow as your comments. Please, learn the value of all music. I’ve been involved with music as a listener and a performer for many years. It’s people like you that disgust me.

Charles, if success is measured by selling lots of cd’s and concert tickets to a generation that grew up on American Idol, I concede.

I didn’t grow up on American Idol & I’m a huge Sugarland fan. I’m in my 40’s. Sugarland writes all of their own music and they are extremely talented people. They totally deserve this honor and have earned it.
