If you’re looking for a road map the music industry, the Atlanta chapter of the Recording Academy might be able to help you out.

On Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the W Atlanta-Buckhead, the local Grammy chapter will host “Grammy GPS,” an all-day affair of programs and panelists including a vocal tech workshop with renowned vocal coach Jan Smith (Usher, Justin Bieber) and R&B star Ne-Yo.

The producer “super panel” is equally impressive, with singer-songwriter-producer (and Georgia native) Butch Walker moderating a group featuring Bryan Michael Cox (Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey), Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Steve Lilywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band) and Justin “Just Blaze” Smith (Busta Rhymes, Eminem).

Another portion of the event spotlights Geoff Emerick, engineer and co-author of the book, “Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording Music of The Beatles.”

Priority (and free access) will be given to members of the academy, but the public can purchase tickets for $100 if available.

He’s currently working on his fifth studio album, “R.E.D.” (and you can catch him in town Saturday on a special Grammy panel). [...]
