It will be a Dave Matthews Band fiesta next month for SiriusXM subscribers.

The satellite radio provider will launch “Dave Matthews Band Radio” at 11 p.m. Sept. 1 on Sirius channel 142 and XM channel 43. It will also be available online on channel 714.

The kickoff event is an exclusive live broadcast of DMB’s concert from the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington, which will be replayed during the month.

The band’s eighth studio album, “Away From the World,” arrives Sept. 11 and fans will hear cuts from that, including an album preview where band members will introduce each track and share stories of their 21-year road history.

Matthews’ solo work, as well as his projects with Tim Reynolds, will receive airtime as well.

The channel will live through Sept. 30.

What they need is the John Coltrane channel.

About time! They have such an extensive catalog it was a matter of time before they got their own channel. Glad I have Sirius. I will be listening.

Jimmy Buffet and Bruce Springsten both have their “own” station and both play more than just those particular artists. I look forward to a DMB station as DMB, like Jimmy Buffet and Springsten span many decades and genres of music. Music played includes “spin offs” from various past and current band members, artists influenced by as well as influences of the station “owners”. All three of these artists have a specific feel and culture surrounding them.

I wish Sirius/XM would carry Brad Paisley’s station too. I LOVE my satellite radio. I am looking forward to getting one for the house next.

Satellite Radio is radio for free thinking music lovers and people tired of the everyday limited reach of our “modern” FM radio culture. My satellite radio connects me to the world.

The negative comments are somewhat humorous but clearly from people who would rather hear a “justin bieber” channel.. lol. If Sirius-XM add a DMB channel on a permanent basis they will surely experience a significant increase in memberships! DMB, Dave and Tim, etc. have such a great live catalog to select from,. plus the potential to air live concerts like the one this Saturday at the Gorge. This move is long overdue!

Great. They can do a regular hour long program of Dave’s between song patter. A reworking of the old joke: Q: What did one DMB fan say to the other when they ran out of weed? A; Man, what’s that crappy music?

This is super! Now, maybe they can quit playing DMB on all other stations so the rest of us don’t have to suffer.

I just called to inquire about this and they are telling me that they will ONLY be playing things from Dave 3x per day. 12pm, 9pm and 3am. Its not a 24 hour music channel like the other ones. I’m new to Sirius so is this typical?!?! Its on ch 142 which doesnt exist so they are telling me to tune into my car at that exact time and the channel will magically appear. This is bull.

We have not been able to get on channel 142 either, sirus is stating that it doesn’t exist. I can get it on my XM fine. They play live concerts 3x day, otherwise it is like the rest of those type of channels, they play a lot of DMB
