Savannah’s Baroness injured in bus crash in England

Baroness

Baroness

Two members of metal band Baroness were injured yesterday when its tour bus fell 30 feet from a viaduct near Bath, England.

Nine people were aboard the bus. The two with multiple fractures were airlifted to local hospitals and the other seven had minor injuries. There were no fatalities and names of the injured have not been released.

The quartet has longtime ties to Savannah, although, according to the Connect Savannah website, the band moved its headquarters to Philadelphia in 2010.

Baroness, who released the new album “Yellow & Green” last month, was touring throughout England and had played in Bristol the night before the accident. The rest of the tour has been canceled. The band’s website has a brief posting that band members and crew are recovering at England-area hospitals.

 Here’s a link to the BBC’s story.

“…are recovering at England-area hospitals.”
How appropriately vague. England-area hospitals? Really? That’s like saying someone is in a Georgia Hospital. Really narrows it down. Top notch writing on the website.

Could care less about the details of the article – best wishes to the band.

Also worth noting that their most recent album was very, very good.

@Knowsbetter – HIPAA has nothing to do with it. Nitpicky’s point was valid. Ruggieri could have simply said area hospitals, and the reader would have known England was meant. But what you both missed is Ruggieri gave a link to the BBC story, which lists the hospitals the band members were transferred to.

And by the way, Baroness rocks! And they’re nice guys, too. Hope they all make a full recovery soon.

For the record, I didn’t mention the names of the hospitals because I was pretty sure no one in Atlanta was planning to visit them any time soon. It’s not as if this happened locally – or even in the country.

I’m also pretty sure that if I had referred to them being taken to “area hospitals,” some smarty-pants would have wanted to know if that meant Piedmont or Grady.

So, you know, can’t please everyone.

Cheers,
Melissa

He he. Cheers. Funny because it’s, like, English.

Don’t sweat the nitpickery…I thought the article was just the right balance for the topic, venue and the reader demo.

BTW, Baroness’ new double album Yellow & Green… a brand new favorite. I’ve been through it 5 times since last night :-P
