Alanis Morissette has been seen more on the small screen than the stage lately, with recent appearances on “Weeds” and “Up All Night.”
But she’s back to musical form for the Aug. 28 release of “Havoc and Bright Lights.”
On the new song, “Receive,” Morissette relishes a newfound comfort within herself over a chugging rock beat dusted with enough polish to make it attractive to pop radio.
Though the song initially paints Morissette as the eternal giver in the relationship, she quickly decides, “I give hard and fight hard and now I need to retreat. I give out, dedicate and now I need to acknowledge me.”
What do you think of the new song from the latest rumored “American Idol” judge?

That was like a breath of fresh air.
But Alanis, please stay away from American Idol.

Alanis is amazing. I loved her last album, “Flavors of Entanglement” and this one sounds very promising. I hope she makes a stop in Atlanta on her tour.
