Hope he is okay.

Did Barry record the song “Mandy”? You know, “you’re a fine girl, what a great wife you would be?
Just wondering

That song is Brandy and was not recorded by Barry Manilow. Name of band was Looking Glass. I think there were a one hit wonder.

Very sad about this- was looking forward to it for months- he’s a true performer, but Chastain was not the venue in middle of summer for him. Wish it had been booked at the Fox- saw him here at Philips a few years back and in Vegas- what a show!!! Hope to see you again soon Barry!!

Ouch – my wife and I had been planning on this for months. We were just getting ready to leave Augusta for the trip up to Atlanta.

Seeing and hearing Barry Manilow is on my “bucket list”. I’m no Spring chicken (neither is Barry), but I am devistated. Have tried to see him in Las Vegas, but can’t afford the tickets. Certainly hope and pray that’s his health is good. Altanta is the “sinus belt” of the USA, so our weather may well have taken its toll. I have always loved Barry – from the “get go”- and wish him all good things.

Decided last minute to go. My friend went to his first Manilow show Friday night in Louisville and I’m done working at 5, so I found a great ticket on craigslist. Good thing I didn’t pay yet, I guess.

Hopefully he is OK, and he reschedules at the Gwinnett Arena – as in INDOORS!!!

Maybe Atlanta is just a jinx for Barry – the last time he was here (2 years ago maybe) was in the winter and was cancelled due to snow, but fortunately rescheduled a couple months later.

Channel 46 has on their website that is canceled due to a Production Problem. He’s played there before so I wonder what the problem was that couldn’t be fixed or modifed before the show tonight. I’m very disappointed……

@ t-bone: What a pathetic life you must lead. You log in to a blog for someone you could care less about, yet spend the time to babble. You are one confused individual – good luck with getting some professional help, cause you need it!

Last scheduled visit to Atlanta, at Philips, it snowed and he had to cancel. The last time he was at Chastain, it rained all night.
So since the Omni is not an option – reschedule at Gwinnett Arena!!!!

Looking Glass also had a hit with “Jimmy Loves MaryAnn”, thought it wasn’t the million seller that “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)” was. Still it was a good song and covered later by other bands, as was “Brandy”. The Red Hot Chili Peppers did a good job on “Brandy”, and a country singer or two covered it as well… but the original is still great music of the 70’s!

This was not cancelled because of production issues, but because of SLOW sales. There were discounted tickets, starting at $9.99 on travelzoo.com this week…..
Too bad for those of you that bought tickets, but this has happened many times, with many performers over the past years. People can not afford these crazy ticket prices.

It is a disgrace to cancel at this late date, just a few hours before the scheduled concert. Shows so little consideration for fans, both by Manilow and by Chastain. I wonder how many people will show up tonight, not realizing the show has been canceled. Both Chastain and Manilow should be ashamed. What an utter embarrassment.

Note to ASO, please don’t schedule old performers with old fans at Chastain outdoors in July. Results: slow sales and show canceled.

I agree with the high prices. No way I was going to spend more than 50 bucks for this so I bought lawn seats. Usually they let you move down. I’m curious about the real reason for the cancellation. It could be anything. Perhaps Manilow was embarrassed about performing in front of a small crowd. Perhaps equipment is malfunctioning. I do know you don’t cancel a show at the last second. Next time show a little more courtesy Chastain.

Wow, went to see him in NYC in Feb. and that series at Radio City was cacelled. This makes twice in 2012. It just isn’t my year. Hope Barry is ok. BTW, it isn’t because of ticket sales. I just came from up north where he does very well and those venues also had $ 10 promo tics.

I agree that it’s in poor taste to cancel at the last minute. If a friend had not called me, I probably wouldn’t have known and headed toward Chastain. Shame on you Chastain for not putting something on your Facebook page! Production problems seem like a lame excuse, I would think that sort of thing would have been worked out long ago…Barry is a seasoned performer and Chastain isn’t a new venue. I hope it is rescheduled, but not at Gwinnett, one of the best things about Chastain is the small area, I am sick of stadium shows!

Frankly,it’s odd that he would even agree to a July outdoor concert in the south given the typical conditions this time of year.If I were him I’d never do it.

This has to be some of the worst incompetence I’ve ever seen. I wonder how many people drove in for the day from outside the area and now have no show to go to. Or people that drove in for the weekend and booked hotels and also have no show to see.

Too hot outside for a concert. He would be a better suited for the Fox.I Can’t even think about the 70’s without one his sugar coated, cliche’,overly dramtic slow tunes on the compact radio by the pool while we kids spashed around. Remember Mom’s station wagon had phony wood grain and an 8 track? We had the gold appliances in the house and were uptown people.

His set was too big/tall for the stage. Someone at his end (probably at the booking agency) screwed up. His health is fine. Played Nashville last night and is bummed about the situation.
