Barry Manilow canceled at Chastain

Tonight’s Barry Manilow concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre has been canceled.

Refunds available at point of purchase. Venue sources have .confirmed that ‘production issues’ are the reason for the cancellation. There is talk of rescheduling at another venue soon.

Also don’t be complaining about ticket prices, it is what it is and if you want to go bad enough you will fork over the money, paid about $825 for 4 tickets for Crue and it was worth every penny.

this sucks. cancellation means I will be out at least $36 for two tickets – service and delivery fees. That’s assuming I get the cost of the ticket back

Saw his show in Nashville on the 28th at the Bridgestone Arena. HE WAS GREAT

I was there setting up. Barry and his crew pitched a fit about the size of the stage and that there wasn’t enough room for his stuff. There was a short argument, everyone loaded the stuff back on the trucks and they were gone. As to whether he has a general animosity towards Chastain or outdoors, I cannot say.

Chastain is way overated. For those of you new to this, stay away. Just like Barry did.
There are many better venues in the ATL.

You cannot make a comparison between the size and amount of equipment and staging two bands or performers have. The configuration is also a consideration, as well as whether they have moving staging and sets, etc. If there was not enough room for the trucks to load in (which is what the press is saying) then there would be very little chance they could reconfigure, remove equipment or take any other action and still do the show that was rehearsed and ready for the audience. This could put the performers, band and sometimes even the audience at risk. The Manilow production team did the right thing. When the booking agent schedules dates, there is an exchange of information about the needs of the production. This sounds like someone at the booking agency screwed up.

…and as for the comments about Manilow’s music, sexual orientation or any other mean spirited or bigoted comment made in reply to this article, I would ask that those who posted the comments remember that, while you are entitled to your opinion, it is difficult to understand why you would take the time and trouble to post a comment if you really hate the performer or person that much. Furthermore, just because you have an opinion or make a statement, that doesn’t mean what you say is actually true or even relevant. I respectfully suggest that you might want to find something else to do with your time.
