Zac Brown Band debuts at No. 1 on Billboard chart

The Zac Brown Band is not only “Uncaged,” but unstoppable.

The band demonstrated its prowess on the Billboard 200 album chart this week, where “Uncaged” arrived at No. 1 with sales of 234,000.

Their victory sends last week’s chart-topper, Chris Brown, to No. 5.

Making a strong showing at No. 2 is R&B singer (and frequent songwriter-to-the-stars) Frank Ocean, who has been in the news consistently the past week or so with discussions about his sexuality.

Though the physical version of his debut release, “Channel Orange,” which features an appearance from Andre 3000, didn’t arrive until this week, it was given an exclusive bow on iTunes last week, and thus, chart eligible.

Ocean plays a sold out show at Center Stage on Sunday.

As for ZBB, though the band’s last album, “You Get What You Give” also debuted at No. 1 when it was released in September 2010, it opened with about 153,000 in sales. The album also returns to the charts, re-entering at No. 16, while 2008’s “The Foundation” is at No. 19.

That should keep Zac in knitted caps for awhile.

I love ZBB, and did buy the album, but I thought it was interesting that the Mp3 version was and still is going for $3.99 on Amazon. I’m sure that helps with the sales tremendously.

@ Melissa Ruggieri,

God Bless you for highlighting Georgia based music-I appreciated your right up on Collective Soul a few weeks back and wanted to share some front row pics with you.

Zac Brown Band is another local , Dahlonega, GA band and we saw them at CMA’s in Nashville and love em!

Thanks, keep up the great work blogging and writing articles at 1:40 in the A.M.-Love that action!

the crazy thing is he’s not bald. They sung the national anthem last season at the start of a bowl game and he took his hat off for that. I think it’s just become his trademark.

where is 3.99 download

I just checked Amazon and Uncaged mp3 download is selling for $10.89 and not $3.99.

Zac Brown says the cold air or a draft gives him an earache.

The cap also helps keep his earpieces in place, I think.

As long as they don’t have another song about chicken, in any form, I’m sure it’ll be good.

@Patrick Romano – ZBB is not from Dahlonega but Fayetteville – where he currently resides. Zac actually was discovered at what was formerly know as the O.C. aka Off Campus in Carrollton near West Georgia College. Just a little side not there :)

Their new CD is amazing and I really enjoy it. I have met Zac several times and always enjoyed his company – very laid back and he truly enjoys making and playing music. We just finished helping him remodel a studio in Nashville, TN – so look out Nashville for some great music coming your way!!!

LocalGrown…hmmm, let’s see-he GREW UP in Dahlonega…technically I read he was born in Cumming, maybe it was just the hospital? His stepdad was a dentist on Lake Lanier. He played some at Lake Oconee and in Atlanta and Kennesaw and really all over the place. Some of his band still lives in Atlanta. His band compound is in Atlanta. Yes FAYETTEVILLE you get credit too…I believe ZAC lives there now and he has a charitable project there too, right?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ENOUGH of the initial correcting of each other about his HOMETOWN/BIRTHPLACE/ETC!!!!!!!

Let’s just say a GOOD CHUNK of NORTH GA can claim him!!!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!!

(P.S.-I will shut up about it unless I have to keep correcting you guys that WON’T LET THIS GO!!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!!)

Actually, the link in the first line of the story will bring you to that review…and the comments. How about we just call them a Georgia band from now on? :)

Heeerrreee we go again – I was not arguing only stating facts as told to me by Zac himself. I know them personally and have been to his home in Fayetteville several times this year.

Melissa – I tried to click on the link and it does not work.

Zac Brown is from Talking Rock Georgia. I read that in the trade papers.

Local Grown – thanks for the heads-up about the link. Not sure what happened, but it’s been fixed.

And thanks for your Zac info. Considering that the guys come from, reside in and are based in different parts of the state – which would be ridiculous to list on every reference – I say we go with ‘Georgia Band’ and leave it at that!
