Think you have the pipes to mimic Jordin Sparks, or even Whitney Houston?
Then you might want to swing by The Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia on Saturday for the “Sparkle Singing Challenge,” a national contest tied into the upcoming Sparks/Houston film, “Sparkle.”
Hopefuls can register in advance at SparkleContestATL@gmail.com or on-site at the mall from 10 a.m.-noon. The contest begins at 1 p.m. Contestants, who must be amateur singers between 13 and 40, will be required to sing a 60-second version of “Celebrate” or “Something He Can Feel,” from the “Sparkle” soundtrack (hear song clips here – www.myspace.com/sparkle)
The Atlanta winner will win $500, a $25 Bebe gift card and the chance to compete for the grand prize of a trip to BET’s “106 & Park” in New York and the chance to record a song with producers/writers Punch Monkeys.
And in the essence of full disclosure, I’ll be a judge at the contest, so…see you there.
