Does Kanye West not read the Internet?
The rapper, a notorious awards show presence, feigned surprise at the appearance of partner Jay-Z at the 2012 BET Awards, though news of Jay and Beyonce’s presence at the ceremony has rattled around for days.
In any case, West managed to be somewhat humble (perhaps Ms. Kardashian is keeping him in line?) and quipped, “I’m bad at losing, I’m bad at winning. I always say the wrong thing,” before a dapper Jay-Z strolled out to embrace his cohort and thank everyone for The Throne’s award for Best Group.
Also early in Sunday’s show, airing live from Los Angeles on BET and hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, Usher got his sexy on, performing “Climax” in a bicep-bearing black shirt and red boots, his upper register and seductive moves with the mic stand in full effect.
Atlanta rapper Future lost the Best New Artist award to Detroit’s Big Sean, but there are a few chances for ATL representation at the show. Usher is up for a pair, including Video of the Year, while Young Jeezy will compete for Best Male Hip-Hop and Diamond for Best Female Hip-Hop.
Stay tuned to the AJC music blog for updates throughout the night.
[Update: Usher just lost Best Male R&B Artist to Chris Brown, who dedicated his award to "Team Breezy and all my fans."]

Horrible pic of Usher his attitude looks like a “robbery face” for a convenience store! Not his usual smooth look…

I agree – it was a bad pic, but all I had at the time. I’ve swapped it out for this one from his performance. Better?

Someone needs to remind Usher that you don’t have to look like the ladies to get one! Those feminized pink boots were waaaay over the top.

I watched the BET awards. I heard “Welcome to the (insert bleep) Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…..Gotta give it up to God…eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. I was horrified. Music died for me after the Black eyed Peas second album.

I think that Frankie Beverly feat. Maze should have been asked to perform. The Award and the album
tribute were very much in order and well-deserved, which is why it would have been nice to see them
perform. I’m in their age-bracket so I feel like we never know when the time will come that we WON’T
be able to see/hear them in an international forum again. Just a thought . . .

That show was one of BET’s worse! But to clarify the writer’s comment, I dont think Kanye was surprised Jay Z was there. I believe Jay Z commented that he was late due to the LA traffic. I think Kanye was surprised when Jay Z came out on stage.
