The Zac Brown Band’s fourth studio album, “Uncaged,” won’t arrive until July 10, but the Atlanta country-rockers are giving fans an advance listen to “The Wind,” which debuted today on The Boot website.
Brown told the site that it’s “probably the most country song we’ve done,” and he isn’t exaggerating. With its zippy bluegrass picking, layered harmonies on the chorus and toe-tapping beat, “The Wind” should elicit a strong response live.
A few months ago, the band’s Coy Bowles talked to the AJC about the album, which includes songs co-written with pals Jason Mraz and Southern Ground artists Sonia Leigh and Nic Cowan, and said to expect “some rock tunes, some island-based song and some with a U2/Kings of Leon vibe.”
Brown was a surprise guest at Sunday’s Georgia Dome show with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. The bearded one collaborated with buddy Chesney on ZBB’s “Knee Deep” and Alabama’s “Dixieland Delight.”
What do you think of the new song?
