The flowers and plants won’t be the only thing drawing visitors to the Atlanta Botanical Garden this summer. Merle Haggard, Neko Case and Mary Chapin Carpenter are sure to bring in the crowds, too
To celebrate the Concerts in the Garden series’ 10th year, the venue has just announced a stellar line-up of talent, which begins with a concert by k.d. lang on June 1 and concludes with hometown favorites the Indigo Girls on Sept. 14.
Tickets for the eight-show series go on sale to Garden members on April 23 and to the general public on April 30 through Ticket Alternative and at Garden admissions. Ticket prices at $49.50 ($47.50 for Garden members), except for the Neko Case show, which is $36.50 ($34.50 for members).
Gates open at 7 p.m. and shows begin at 8 p.m. Seating is general admission, and ticket holders may bring blankets or low-ride chairs. Cash bars will be available, and dinner may be purchased from MetroFresh in the Garden.

I wouldn’t see the Indigo Girls if someone paid me. I went to a concert in Buckhead last year, waited 3 and a half hrs once let in the door and they still were not on stage. We had a babysitter and my partner and I decided to leave and enjoy what was left of our evening instead of battling all the roadies pushing and shoving everyone near the stage, not knowing when they would “grace” everyone’s presence. We had a nice quiet dinner downtown and decided never again to go to one of their shows. While their music is wonderful, their etiquette towards their fans is not. I was highly disappointed in them.

I went to see Steve Earle a few years ago. He played a few songs and then a summer storm rolled in. They sent everyone inside. After the storm had passed they came around and told us the show was canceled. I guess rain or shine means something else to them. I wouldn’t risk $50 on summer storms if I were you because it’s really rain or shine or whatever they decide – no refunds.
