Music Midtown will return this fall, this time for a two-day engagement.
The Live Nation-produced event, which was resurrected last year for the first time since 2006, will take place Sept. 21-22 at Piedmont Park.
Last year’s show – also at the park – featured Coldplay and The Black Keys, as well as alt-rock acts Young the Giant and Manchester Orchestra.
The all-day event drew a crowd of about 40,000.
Who are you hoping to see at this year’s show?

Ignore ignorance like NAACP’s. Likely not a musical note of intelligence in that body. Moving on….let’s see Georgia artist. Stage 1-Outkast-TOGETHER!!! Cee lo & Goodie Mob, Luda! Stage 2-Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan. If none of them are available then please bring back No Doubt or Kid Rock. One of the best MM ever.

QOTSA and Cambria, Lucero, ARS, Wet Willie, T-Rex, Mother’s Finest, Marv Three and a host of defunct (no pun intended) bands and dead rock stars. We could get Don Cornelius and Don Kirshner to MC5.

UGA has a home SEC game on the 22nd so it’s an odd day to have a music festival. College football Saturdays in general are a bad time to plan an event.

Did someone really say Nickelback? Gawd NO! How about some Ray Lamontagne (?sp), Jack Johnson, Damien Rice, and David Gray on one stage…Rage against the machine, Van Halen, P.O.D. on another. And those that want some local artists, how about B.O.B., T.I., maybe bring back some Lil’ John and the Ying Yang Twins.

Last year’s MM was not a real music fest. It was a Coldplay – Black Keys double bill with a couple of opening acts. They need to have a mix of the old and the new. How about Foster the People, Vampire Weekend , Shins, Bruno Mars, a few 60s soul or R&B classic performers and a couple of classic rockers, a couple of rappers who are more suitable for a live outdoor event, A couple of pop singers.

In a city, like Atlanta, that is over 50% black, the artists appearing should reflect a majority of the population.
Additionally, Music Midtown should have a “Justice for Trayvon” rally highlighting injustices blacks face on a daily basis.
