KISS and Motley Crue prepare to raise the roof this summer…and One Direction comes to town

You wanted the loudest…well, you’ll get the loudest with the summer double bill of KISS and Motley Crue.

The rockers will embark on a 40-plus city jaunt simply dubbed “THE TOUR” on July 20 in Manassas, Va., and visit Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood three dates later on July 24.

Tickets to the Lakewood date are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for $29 (lawn) and $29-$150 (reserved). Those with Citibank credit cards can get a jump on buying, starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday through www.citiprivatepass.com.

While the apparently never-retiring KISS (currently Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer) has toured in the past with fellow longhairs Poison (in 2003) and Skid Row (in 2001 for the, ahem, KISS “Farewell Tour”) and the original lineup of the Crue has also rocked stages with Poison (2011) and Aerosmith (2006), this unholy matrimony of fist-pumping glam rock is seen by many ‘80s rock fans as the ultimate pairing.

KISS and Motley Crue did share a stage in 1982 for the “Creatures of the Night Tour,” when the Crue was in its infancy and KISS was dealing with the departure of Ace Frehley and arrival of Vinnie Vincent.

On the opposite end of the concert spectrum, the latest teen band that makes the young girls cry, One Direction, is heading out for its first-ever headlining tour this spring.

The U.K.-based quintet — Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – a Simon Cowell creation stemming from the 2010 U.K. version of “The X Factor,” debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with their first album, “Up All Night,” earlier this month.

The boys will visit the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7 p.m. June 26. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. March 24 for $29.50-$59.50.

If you need a fix before June, One Direction will perform “What Makes You Beautiful” on the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards March 31 and play on “Saturday Night Live” April 7 (guest host, for the dads who tuned out reading that last sentence, is Sofia Vergara.

For tickets to either concert, call 1-800-745-3000 or visit www.livenation.com.

This is not the original line up for KISS anyway. Either way, both are just phoning it in for a big paycheck. Not going to waste my time. How great would a Led Zep reunion with Page/Plant/JPJ and Jason Bonham be?! That would be newsworthy and worth a hefty price of admission.

Hey blksheperd, maybe you can get tickets and go see a real class act like R Kelly.
Spend the extra bucks for front row seats and if you’re lucky he may even urinate on you.

I wonder if blkshepherd is a music fan or a hip hop fan.
Hip hop/rap music is an oxymoron.

Some of you young punks wouldn’t know good music if you heard it. blkshepard is not a music fan. Rap/hiphop is not music in any sense of the word.

All that make-up, all these amphitheater gigs, in the south, in late July…..’The Demon’ Simmons might really feel like he really is in H***.

Saw Crue at the Hard Rock in Vegas last month. Pretty good show (I could do without the acoustic set tho). Mick Mars can barely walk but he can still play! Count this geezer in!

Others just cashing it in: Eagles, any “reunion” tour, Rolling Stones, etc., etc. And how about the talentless, such as Justin Bieber? And relax, dudes, nobody is forcing any of you to go to these shows – and why the comment about it being ok because it is an all-white show? I know plenty of African-Americans who enjoyed Kiss. It’s not the music (either Kiss or “hip-hop”) that is racist. I’m just sayin.

I think that live album Kiss did from Cobo Arena was what, 37 years ago? And….’The Crue’ had its day a long, long time ago, as well. I think I’ll pass. Some oldies but goodies in there, tho’!

Oh yeahs. Break out my Iffliction shirt baby. It’s like the ying and the yang of rock and roll. Two different decades of my youth on stage together. I wonder if they will play together on a song? It would be like Nirvana and the Foo Fighters altogether. Too bad Curt Cobane is gone because they could have did a festivel with Kiss and Motely Crue. Can you imagine if that happen. I would die and go to rock and roll heavin. God gave rock and roll to you gave rock and roll to every one!

My mom says I was conceived at a Kiss concert but my dad says he doesn’t remember ever going to a Kiss concert. I tried to ask my mom what was up with that but it’s hard to talk with my giant 9 inch tongue.

kiss, is one of the greatest shows on earth, then and now. You young punks dont know good music look at the crap you are listening to today ,really.lady gaga, rhiannah, thats what you think good music is. while kiss has been around for as long as they have , there must be a reason. The groups you are listening to fade so fAST.kISS IS ROCK N ROLL BUT THEN YOUR NOT LISTENING TO ROCK ARE YOU.AND BY THE WAY ERIC SINGER AND TOMMY THAYER ROCK EVERY BIT AS HARD AS ACE AND PETER , I MISS THEM TO BUT GENE AND PAUL GOT RID OF A DRUNK AND A DRUG ADDICT,GOOD FOR THEM.kISS WILL ROCK ON FOREVER, SO LICK IT UP..
