Of course Adele is happy - she just swept the Grammys! Photo: Matt Sayles (AP).
Even if you follow music only casually, there’s no way you could have been surprised at Adele’s sweep. And a well-deserved one at that. Her “21″ album has resuscitated an industry on life support for years and with pure music, too.
So that part of the Grammys was kind of a given.
But what did you think about the rest? Were the Whitney Houston tributes sufficient? Surprised at the five wins for the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl gets my vote for best speech of the night)? Psyched for Springsteen’s upcoming tour? Hope that Nicki Minaj decides to become a banker so we never have to see her on stage again?
Sound off below while I rewind my TiVo to re-watch that awesome show-closer with Paul McCartney, Springsteen and Grohl.

That “New Star Award” has me completely baffled. How did that happen? Apparently knows somebody in high places! Agreed on Nikki Minaj, had to turn it a minute into that final number of hers. Pure garbage! Thought Taylor Swift’s number “Mean” was unique and refreshingly done.

Loved the show. But Nikki Minaj should have been “exorcised” for that hot mess of a “performance”. Also, not sure why so much attention on Chris Brown. Definitely could have done with less of him. On the plus side, kudos to great performances of Adele, Glen Campbell, Jennifer Hudson, Bruce, Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt.

They got it right here the winners are concerned. Bruce was a great choice to open, and I’m pretty sure “We Take Care of Our Own” will be the show opener on his tour. Adele deserves all the accolades and praise, Taylor gets the last laugh singing “Mean” on the Grammys (and doing quite well and completely live). I really hope people run out and buy/download a Glen Campbell greatest hits record, the Foo Fighters proudly carry the flag for ROCK! Lastly, closing with McCartney singing Abbey Road medley is just one of the reasons this show will stay on my DVR for a long, long time.
Now, if only I could omit that Nicki Minaj train wreck, it would be almost perfect!

It was hard trying to determine who’ll be in the nursing home first: Beach Boys or Bruce. Great songwriting there, repeating “We take care of our own” over and over and over and over again.

Bruce! Adele!
The music industry is dying… because of the music industry. Let the artists do their thing and stop rewarding only performers who sound like somebody else. Factor out the impotent industry leaders who only look at $uccess. There’s a place in the world for new talent. (btw, Bruce is huge now, but he was doing his own thing while everyone else was trying to be the Beatles.)

Overall it was a very good show. Agreed there could have been more award presentations. Would have like to have seen the Allman Brothers receive their lifetime achievement award, wish they had performed. The only part I fast-forwarded thru was Nikki Minaj. That was crap. But I guess since LL Cool J opened the show with a prayer, Satan was given equal time. Thats the only excuse for that “performance”. I give extra extra credit to this year’s show because there was no Lady Gaga performance, and no sign of Kid Rock anywhere! Thank you Grammy’s!

Overall, I enjoyed the show, but would like to have seen more awards given and fewer commercials. Favorite performances were Maroon 5/Foster the People/Beach Boys, Foo Fighters, and the Paul McCartney jam at the end. The collaborations are an interesting idea, but put some thought into combining musicians’ styles. Rihanna and Coldplay?! Who thought those 2 would mesh? The Nicki Minaj thing was awful. I knew we were in for a painful performance when she walked the red carpet in that costume escorted by a “pope”. Glad to see Adele sweep — it shows that pure music written and performed by a musician still trumps elaborate sets, dance numbers, and freak shows.

Great show…one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. I used to hate watching these shows, but they’ve finally figured out how to strike the right balance between performances and awards. People are less interested in seeing the awards and want to see more “must see tv” moments. This show struck the right tone, even with the Whitney Houston tributes. Everyone still appeared to be excited, and LL had a lot to do with that. I thought Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift’s performances stood out, but there were so many good ones – Adele, Bonnie Raitt and Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Foo Fighters. Even the electronica stuff was decent. The only bad performance was that Nikki Minaj trying to be Madonna/Lady Gaga garbage… Great Grammy’s show..

Frank Ski V103 was on this morning praising Chris Brown, performance, this shows how we have accepted below standards, Chris is a good singer, why not let his vocals cords show? the guy has so much computer background you could not hear him.
Young artsist, please pull up the tape of Luther, MJ. Marvin, on how to perform live, even old guys like Glen Campbell and the beach boys sounded better then these young artist, and some of the people did not give any acknowledge to Whiney.
During the Motown days some one like Nikki Minaj, would cleaning up the office at Motown, theres no way Barry Gordy would have given this no singing person a mic, once again this shows how far the talent has fell.

I guess I’m an old dinosaur, but I actually preferred the Grammy’s back in the day when people referred to them as the “Grannies”. Nowadays it’s nothing more than an overproduced hip hop/rap lovefest showcasing lightweights (from a talent perspective). Minaj a talent? Puh leeze. Anyone who requires 47 backup dancers to perform is a putz, not a true talent.

One of the best shows in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed almost all the performances. (The only ones I couldn’t watch were Nicki Minaj and that little dance/dj thing at the end, I didn’t get the point of that.) I felt like it was a re-birth of sorts, a re-introdcution to real singers playing real instruments, etc.
I will disagree with you AJC writer, I think it is possible to be a casual music fan and be surprised at Adele’s wins. I know a lot of people who have never heard of her. Her music is not played on all stations (specifically R&B type stations.) That said, even though I only recently discovered her, I find her refreshing. For one thing, she keeps her clothes on (much more than you can say for a lot of the so-called artists nowadays). Also she doesn’t do a lot of gimmicky stuff. Very different. I also have a theory of why she receives almost goddess-like praise but I will reserve sharing the theory because it is related to race and I think some would misinterpret it.
Anywho, other highlights for me: Bruno Mars, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift (she looked so surprised when she got a standing ovation, lol. I think people liked the artistic element of her presentation.) Kelly Clarkson and the guy she was singing with, the country duo who introdcued Swift (don’t know name), Jennifer Hudson did a surprsingly good job, she actually tamed her delivery and left all that howling and whatnot to better match Whitney’s classy style, and the list goes on.
I’m just glad this show was about real music. No Be… or Ja… or Gag… or whatever. Other folks got a chance to shine last night and sooo glad they did.

Chris Brown where is the Soul in music, whats up these pop sounded brothers,
This why old school brothers like Luther, Same Cooke, James Brown, Teddy are missed.
A person like R. Kelly who sang with soul can not get on stage but pop sounded Chris Brown who will not let his true soul come out, because he fears of not crossing over, Nikki Minaj back in the day would be fliping burgers this shows the mine set of the youth with that garbage and no talent.

They were generous and seemed appreciative of folks really trying to show real talent again. That Foo Fighters guy speech seemed to really hit home. Loved my Sir Paul McCartney – what a performer, and nearly 70 years old! He can rock with any of the much younger ones, and outdo many of them onstage!
Glad WH’s death didn’t overshadow Adele’s huge evening. I like her voice, but not so much her songs.
Loved Kelly Clarkson – looked lovely, and what a fabulous voice that girl has.
Minaj – what a total disaster.
Looking forward to Ellen tomorrow to see the adorable little Sophia Grace & Rosie interviewing on the Red Carpet. They are the funniest little kids I’ve ever seen. Did see them on E!’s revolving camera thingy they use to show off dresses.

Actually, I did watch the show. First time in years.
Bruce? I loved him “back in the day” but I’m not one who thinks everything he does is perfect. Some(perhaps yourself) would think a recording of him f a r t i n g would be great.
But, Bruce, McCartney, Campbell, Beach Boys – yes all were great at one time and I have actually seen all perform live in the 70s and 80s. I don’t seem to remember either of them needing to lyp-synch the music, wear 17 outfits and 4 hair colors during their performances, or require a bunch of sweaty backup dancers on stage to present a worthy “performance”.
Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton? Yep, like both. Best to see them on the various Country Music Awards shows. This is actually where you’ll see groups like the “Eagles” perform. And guess what, no backup dancers and pyrotechnics.
Jennifer Hudson? Great voice, great success story.
Bruno Mars? Meh.

Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable show, and so good to see Adele back! That said, I definitely think they shouldn’t have wasted space on Chris Brown—-for him to be at the same show as Rihanna was a disrespectful to her. I don’t typically watch the Grammy’s even tho it’s the most prestigious music award to be received. I thought the show was horrible!!! Instead of the Grammy’s, it should have been called (as I heard someone else say) the GRANNY’S!!!! all of those OLD, outdated performances were boring…… I went to bed after the “so-called” Whitney Houston tribute. Jennifer Hudson looked great and sounded great, but I was disappointed that I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes for a 3 min “tribute”.
I do like Adelle……..CONGRATULATIONS to her!!! Bruno Mars’ performance was good and there may have been one or two others, but the Beach Boys??!! Come on!!! I’m not taking away from thier talent and contributions from back in the day…….but this is the 21st century and ALL of the performances should have been current and relevant maybe with a couple of “throw backs”. And even with the current performances, they needed to be careful with who they choose. And yes, I know, the Grammy’s celebrate all genres of music.
R.I.P. to all the singers, songwriters, performers, producers, etc. who have passed away. Thanks for your talents and contributions to the music industry!!!

Alex – I never said the Boss was perfect, far from it. I agree his older stuff is much better than anything he’s done in the last two decades. I saw Zeppelin, McCartney, Bruce, etc in the 70s and 80s, so it sounds like we are contemporaries.
But I was responding to your initial comment “Nowadays it’s nothing more than an overproduced hip hop/rap lovefest showcasing lightweights (from a talent perspective).”
There was some hip hop/rap, but it was a balanced show, old and young, urban and country, big production numbers and acapella performances. Lightweights? Really? Other than MInaj, and maybe Foster the People, who at this point are a one-hit wonder…every performer and recipient was talented. DId I like them all? No. Doesn’t mean they aren’t great performers. I prefer live bands to dance shows, but there was (again) a decent balance I thought. Thats my 2 cents. Rock on brother!

Adele, Hudson, Bruno, The Beach Boys, and Foo Fighters had good performances… Nikki bashers must understand that she is not a true rapper, (not sure why she tries to be), she actually has a great singing voice, she would had did better to sing while having some weird stuff going on in the background, rather than try to rap… At least people would have said that she sounded great… She is a modern day Maddonna, lots of sacrilegous stuff going on stage and/or her videos… That perfomance was equilvalent to Madonna’s “Like a Prayer Video” in the 80s. And on another note, what was up with that Mikey Mouse character who was spinning like a d.j. during that dance off? That was more bizzarre than Nikki’s performance in my opinion.

gm, Barry Gordy is shaking his head because he can’t fleece these young artist today like he did back in the day. I generally like the grammy’s to be exposed to artist I wouldn’t normally listen to. The country male female duo who performed in the center were good, definitely wouldn’t have heard them. Time for Chris Brown to get back to R&B, and stop with the crossover world pop (can u say Usher) that everyone is doing for sales. Minsk is talented, but did NOT show it last night. I also wish Bruno Mars would have sang and played one of his ballads by himself so that people can really see how incredible he is. Sometimes the production and dancers get in the way. Notice on W Houston’s I will always love you, the first 45 seconds of song is all voice, acapella. Who does that? Special does that! Special ain’t scared!

Whitney Houston had been an irrelevant factor on the music scene for 15 years, but because she overdosed a day before the show, they had to rework things to sing her praises. The woman was no role model for children or teenagers. Between this overhyped episode of self-congratulations for the music industry and that overhyped zombie show that came on last night, I was really glad I had NetFlix. The saving grace for the Grammys was Adele. She is absolutely beautiful, regardless of what that fashion designer who called her fat says.

The show was a C – at best. They do need to show more awards. the Boss – sounded like Dylan from last year. Too old. Can’t sing anymore.Kinda like Lee Greenwood. He should only come around. Say like July $th evey year. Chris Brown – who cares. Since when is that R+B? Burno Mars- hes very under rated. Foo Fighters – sounded great. And it was live. Rihanna/ColdPlay was good.
Katy Perry was ok. Who was the stunt double? During the alien part? Beachboys – kinda sad. Congrats on 50 years together. But time to hang em up. Taylor Swift – always good. Glen Campbell – ok. Jennifer Hudson -great voice. But she should of did her own thing. Whitney – its sad when any one dies. But did anyone think she woulds have made it this long. She had not been able to sing for years. Crak is Wak man. Nikki Minaj – bad song – But great show! Adele – i guess she should win the awards.abecause she is all u hear on the radio. Over her. @dwayne – I disagree. Glen Campbell should have performed. He does has Alzeheimer’s, but it doesn’t have him JUST YET. So freaking what he missed a lyric or two. So what. Just like it was said last night, we all need to get back to enjoying the music and not whether a person gave a stellar performance. For him to even get on the stage, banter a little back and forth and still enjoy himself may even help his mind stay sharp a little longer. God forbid you ever forgot a lyric while singing in the car….
Nikki Minaj nees to placed in a rocket and shot off into space…what a hot mess that was.
Adele deserved all she received and I knew she would win all six categories. My voting ticket is proof!
Show was good, as a matter of fact, Chris Brown should accompany Nikki Minaj.

As a professional musician, for me the contrast between the actual talent on the stage was mind blowing. When you see Bonnie Raitt and Alicia Keys up there with a keyboard, a guitar, and two voices nailing it with no computers, pre-recorded vocal tracks…or The Civil Wars (I will go buy their cd now)….or Adele….or McCartney & crew…heck, even The Beach Boys, as old as they are…and (gulp) Taylor Swift (a really refreshing performance, didn’t take herself too seriously and actually played, which the crowd ate up)…THAT’S the true measure of talent. Bruno Mars? The boy blew me away, and I had never even heard of him before. And his band was killing it. PLEASE, if you are onstage representing the music industry, the very least that should be required is an actual performance. If I wanted to hear pre-recorded music I’ll just turn on my ipod, thank you. In other words, Chris Brown, Rhianna, Katy Perry, and that Minaj guano – just do real musicians and artists who don’t depend on technology more than talent a favor and stay out of the way next time. Dave Grohl nailed it – music ain’t about computers and auto-tune, it’s about talent that comes from the head and the heart.

Ha! yeah, Mr. Obvious – EDM (electronic dance music) guys can be hard to get your head around because sometimes you just see them DJ
Hard to see “what he does” in four minutes, but at a minimum he made the Foo’s “Rope” danceable, and then went into his 2010 “Raise Your Weapon” which is his own production. He’s considered by many to be one of the best EDM producers in the business, and Skrillex (who won 3 grammys) is signed to his label mau5trap.

They really should have seperate Grammy Shows for cRap, Country, Rock, etc. They do not mesh well together. That Roman thing was a waste of time. Good news is I switched channels and watch some dog show where you can at least understand the performers.

I think this year’s Grammy Awards were quite boring. Nothing speculator happened on the show this year. I did find Taylor Swift refreshing; Nikki Minaj beyond a train wreck (WTF was that anyway); and Jennifer Hudson singing “I will Always Love You” was the highlight of the entire show. Adele did great too, but what else would you expect from her, it’s natural. Maybe next year they’ll get it together and make it more memorable.

Thought the show was pretty good. In the interview on 60 minutes, Adele talked about how she doesnt’ use gimmicks, dancers, etc and will never have the looks of a model. Her voice and musice are the show. Many, including Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Rihanna and others could learn form this. I love Adele’s sound and her refreshing attitude which let’s her talent shine above the noise. Thought the tribute to Whitney by Jennifer Hudson was just right. Loved Bruno Mars opener – lots of energy. Coldplay, McCartney were terrific.

Ms B,
The song that Taylor Swift sang, was written for haters like you. She can sing. So can Chris Brown but he’s a low-life scumbag and didn’t deserve to be there, period. I agree with the other person here who said that having him perform on the same show as Rihanna was disrespectful to her. For the show as a whole, I loved it, with the exception of the train wreck Nikki Minaj brought us. A total Gaga/Madonna copycat performance, but with far less talent shown.

All I have to say that if you’re an r&b and/or rap fan, you should feel angry. Outside of Jen Hudson (origionally not part of the show), there would be nothing to feel proud of. Matter of fact, every act under Young Money that’s making money (Nicki Minaj, Drake, Weezy, etc), is mostly a disgrace. If that’s all that radio stations and music companies are supporting, then the future of rap and r&b is doomed.

Great job Adele. Taylor, awesome revenge on Can’tyo (Kanye). Some nice performances. Why they let talentless Nicki Minaj perform I’ll never know. She can’t rap or sing. All she can do is look good. How is that Grammy qualifications? Also, way too much Chris Brown. Grammy’s are for music, not dancing. He does not have musical talent. Still can’t figure out why Rhianna is so popular either. As an over-50 Grammy watcher, these are my comments:
1) Keep the over-50 artists who actually sing to a minimum. They HAD great voices, but it is hard to listen to them now. Bruce was pretty good, but the rest, including Sir Paul were marginal.
2) Lip syncing should be outlawed at the Grammys. If your dancing and light show causes you to have to lip sync, then I don’t want to see it.
3) Adele represented everything good about the Grammys. Nikki M represented everything that needs to be deleted from the next Grammy show. Ditto the deletion of Chris Brown also.
4) As a country fan, I know I should be happy for Taylor Swift, but I hate everything that the “MEAN” song represents. She is not the epitome of country music, and I wish the industry would stop recognizing her as such.

Tom, normally I would agree, I’m not a big awards show person either, but I’m glad I caught the Grammys last night. I think you would have been pleasantly surprised. The new artist guy even mentioned those “who will never get a Grammy but are awesome too.” It was a real tribute to real music I thought last night. Of course, there was still the politics of commercialization and a lot of folks probably got slighted because of it. One I can think of off the top of my head is Lupe Fiasco losing to Kanye and JayZ for best rap song. Clearly they get the “predictability” award, but they didn’t deserve it imo. Lupe’s record was much better, but he is not as mainstream, so it is what it is. For what it is and what it has become, I think last night was surprisingly different (I’m sure the fact that the two aforementioned predictables weren’t there added to the quality of the show. New faces, finally!)

Although I generally like Nicki Manaj and think she is a great talent, someone needs to tell her there is such a things as “contrived” and “trying too hard”. As for the rest: loved the Rhianna, Cold Play, Bruno Mars, the Beach Boys, of course Adele deserved every honor, and would have loved to have heard some more of Glen Campbell’s hits as he did them, Galveston would have been nice. As someone said people should hear his greatest hits. Not a big fan of Jennifer Hudson, but I thought she was superb in the tribute to Whitney. Just goes to show, once again, that all the fame and fortune in the world cannot guarantee you happiness or peace. See Michael Jackson, Elvis, etc. Hope the young artists get the message. I though it was the worst Grammy’s ever. I remember there was a time when the Grammys didn’t allow lip syncing. That was the reason people watched them over other award shows. They have sunk down to the level of VMA’s. But I have to admit they do tend to award better. Not giving Nikki Minaj “Best New Artist” was the only way they still have credibility with me.

First we must understand and stop comparing today’s music with that of yesterday. The business is not the same and the artists are not cut from the same cloth. 20-30 years ago there was not much money to make in the music biz (not like today) so yes, the artists were more in tune with their craft because they ‘loved” what they did. Nowadays, artists for the most part are in it to make money. And guess what, they will not make money if they do not put out music that appeals to the audience that BUYS it, which is the younger generation. They younger people love Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj etc. so the artists make music they’re fans want to hear. Nicki Minaj case in point actually is a very good rapper(you’d have to hear her underground music BEFORE she became a household name) but the problem is she goes with the gimmicks to sell records. But if we have been paying attention, this has been the case for quite some time now and its time for us to stop acting like we are surprised.

How many people in the audience could pass a drug test. We worship people and make role models of people unworthly of it. You might say I am old fashioned but I think the whole thing is way overblown. I could care less is someone wins the Grammy. Before anyone accuses me of being glad Houston is dead after my previous post let me set you straight. I think her rendition of the National Anthem in 1991 is the gold standard by which anyone who tries to sing it should be judged. But all this outpouring of public grief is unwarranted. A simple dignified, “we are sorry for her passing” would be plenty. She was not Saint Whitney who did untold good works in this world. I agree with the writer above who said her story should be a warning to all these young singers/

!5 years later, people are still talking about AND GRIEVING. the death of “Princess” Diana, so forgive us please, if 2 days later, some in the public are still grieving the death of a great singer like Whitney Houston. Whatever it was that killed her; drugs, booze, prescription medication, whatever; does not lessen the fact that those who did love her are missing her. Because you don’t see what others saw in her, makes her no less dead and no less important than someone who was killed in a car crash, or other means. A person does not have to be a Saint to be loved, missed or grieved, and you do not get to determine how one is to go about the grieving process, simply because it does not suit YOUR taste.

I loved Adele for sure; Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and B. Raitt, Bruno Mars ,and let’s not forget Glen Campbell. Was glad Lady “Gag-gah” wasn’t on stage and she should have asked Nicki “Mirage”( I thought I was seeing a train wreck), to join her. Taylor Swift reminded me of Minnie Pearl on Hee-Haw years ago, and I swear, all the musical award shows are determined to give that little girl as many awards as she can hold, just to make up for that Kanye West fiasco years ago. That little girl is not that good.

From a sista’s perspective (and believe me I have many):
Aside the lost of Ms. Whitney Houston, I don’t think her death was the reason the show sucked! Adele, Bruce Springstein, Beach Boys, Taylor Swift performed well – Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Aliciia Keyes, Chris Brown, etc and several others did half #$*& jobs. But what can we expect when they can’t sing like their mentors!
Lucky for me I didn’t see that trashy Minaj trick, I turned the channel. I missed Jennifer Hudson too, though I picked up her performance via youtube. I wasn’t impressed – it was a sour night full of sorry entertainers.
*By the way, I was impressed with the Beach Boys – they were really good. Especially since I didn’t like them growing up – but seems today’s music is just noise!

@ Atlanta Music Scene The Grammys are over – what did you think?
11:48 pm February 12, 2012, by Melissa Ruggieri
Of course Adele is happy – she just swept the Grammys!

I enjoyed some of the talent on the Grammys but Taylor’s song was out there. I was bored. I would not have watched if it had not been for Whitney Houston’s passing. I wanted to see how they would celebrate her life. Jennifer Hudson has really come into her own. She sang from her heart. Nicki’s a great talent and I have her on my ipod working out in the gym. I didnt see her perform last night but she is a good talent.

Chris Brown was embarassing to watch and then turns around and gets best R&B award? Dude never sings. Just dances. Nikki Whatshername was stupid. She can talk fast. Big deal. That whole thing was a joke. Loved Foo Fighters. The Gleen Cambell thing was strange. He looked PO’d. The best parts were that Kanye was not there and the Chipotle commerical. Oh and Rhinna sounded like always..loses it after one note. The Kardashians should start a band. Apparently, all you need is to have the looks and they can produce and auto-tune your CD and then you can lip sync the rest of your life.

other than that area it was pretty good.
Chris Brown can not sing, moves bad and I am not sure what he is even about, Foo Fighters not impressed with them, hated the electronic mouse,,,,, really hated the club scene thing——— if this is what clubs are like today, glad I am missing it…………… Nikki Manji over the top, after her introduction, I expected great,,,,,,,,,,,,, saw something else.

I’m thrillled that Chris Brown is able to focus on his talent. Not the trampy/sleazy/slutty Rhi. She looked like she should have been on the strool instead of at a Black-Tie Affair. I’m thrilled that Chris won the Grammy he deserved. Yet, I find Rhi’s behavior very offensive. I was bought to tears when the Classy Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to Whitney. Not sure who the hillbilly Miranda Lambert is. She looked like she dressed in Wally’s World. She had the nerve to question the Grammy’s decision to allow Chris Brown to perform twice. The bigger question is”WTH are you.” Hold your head high young brother. Continue to focus on your craft. Not the haters or debaters……Team Breezy…!!!

I was disappointed with the Grammy show last evening. Adele, congrats she has a wonderful singing voice, much deserved. Jennifer Hudson thanks for your “threebute” (three minutes of a great song) to Whitney Houston. Chris Brown, what was your performance really about…Nicki Minaj…what was that? There should have been more tributes to Whitney more R and B acts added to the show, it seems as if both were intentionally left out.

It was refreshing to see an artist (Adele) actually showcase their talent without relying on gimmicks. I also love that she doesn’t feel the need to lose weight in order to satisfy music execs and/or her critics. I wish there were more artists who left out the over-the-top theatrics and just let their voice be the showcase. The highlights for me were Adele, Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters, Glen Campbell, Paul McCartney, and Alicia Keys/Bonnie Raitt.

@Amy in the ATL …..As a woman of pride and dignity, I try to carry myself as such. The situation with Chris Brown happened 3years ago. He has done all, and more, that was required of him for redemption. In the meanwhile, have you seen how the supposedly abused Rhi carries herself. I’d like to point out that one must earn respect; and that is done by carrying youself in a respectable manner. She Does Not.! Check out on “YouTube” her behavior at her Islands Carnival Festival. She’s just nasty..!!! So if anything it was disrespectful for her to be at such a dignified affair. I pray that my Son dosen’t bring anyone like her home.

That’s why our country/society is going downhill, because people like you forgive/forget and allow some low life trash like Chris Brown to have a career in entertainment. What he did was no “mistake”. When you condone and forgive people like Chris Brown you are really wanting forgiveness for your own skeletons.

Long before Chris Brown made the mistake that he did, our country was spiraling downhill for various other reasons, that had nothing to do with him. No, the absence of a God in too many of our hearts, is at the root of so much of the mindless hatred we choose to hang on to, and the unwillingness to forgive others that don’t look quite like us. If you think that Chris Brown in his short 23 years is the gold standard for domestic abuse, you obviously have been living in that covered cave, for far too long. What he did was wrong and cowardly, and not at all representative of how most men treat their women; but like ALL men, “we have all sinned, and fell short of the glory of God”. (I’m sure that statement will offend some of you, and therein is the initial problem). Forgive that YOUNG man, wish him well; but if you can’t, you can always google all the other “forgiven and forgotten” batterers, who do look like you, and have went on to lead exemplary lives, despite what they did earlier on..
