Monday’s Stevie Nicks concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre has been postponed until Wednesday, Aug. 17.

A release from concert promoter Live Nation cites a medical reason as cause for the switch.

Tickets for Monday’s show can be used at the new date. Also, some additional seats have just been released.

The 8 p.m. show time with opener Michael Grimm remains the same.

Refunds, if necessary, are available at point of purchase.

To purchase tickets (priced at $40-$75), visit www.livenation.com or call 1-800-745-3000.

She use to be a hottie, now she is a nottie. Too bad when a singer looses her voice. Time to retire unless your hooked on the money.

She is still beautiful and she sings better then ever. That said.. how can they have a concert in Atlanta on Wednesday the 17th and one scheduled in Indianapolis the same night??
She’s good, but ,…… ????

Wow… thechain, you must be a lot better off than most people. I gotta hand it to you, you’re a better music fan than I am. It’s a big investment for me to plunk down $150 for two concert tickets to an Atlanta show, and I LIVE here… I mean, really, you’re flying in to watch a Stevie Nicks show? Just buy her greatest hits album… not much new in about 20 years, right? And between tickets at Chastain, hotel, and plane tickets, you spent HUNDREDS of dollars on this, right?

Sorry you’re out the hotel and airfare… but you gotta expect stuff like this. It could be a bad storm with high winds and lightning to cause a postponement, or her health, or whatever… I can see driving 2 or 3 or 4 hours to a concert MAYBE, but I’d never fly and book a hotel to see ANYBODY… too much of a risk. To each their own, I guess…

Really??? John L. you can’t understand that a fan would fly into a city for a concert to see an artist that they truly adore? Well not everyone in the country lives near a metro city that they can just buy tickets and take a subway, taxi or drive to the venue. There are devoted fans in rural areas that are devoted to these artists and would like to have the chance to see them perform live in person and not just listen to the greatest hits on their stereo. Yes they can expect circumstances that happen beyond the artists control but they certainly have the right to have an opinion about it. That is what this forum is about.

Pros like Stevie should be truly admired for her (40) year career. Oh yeah, she was smokin’ hot back-in-the-day, too! Has anybody bothered to actually listen to the “artists” out there in the last (25) years; more importantly, how long each of this collective rabble lasts? Like I told my nephew: “Access the Greatest Hits of Lemonade Mouth; crack open another Red Bull, and text all your friends who know anything about music until your thumbs fall off. That should hold you for about five minutes.”

instead of discussing how much money you’re out, or whether Stevie is hot or not (she’s gorgeous!) or why she’s touring etc we should instead be saying how we hope she is well! Obviously something is going on that she’s canceling a concert, do you think she WANTS to disappoint/piss off anyone at all? Come on people chill out. I would be really disappointed too but don’t start bitching amongst yourselves, just hope for the best of stevie’s health. =)

I flew to London to see Elton John perform with an orchestra and chorus. I also saw Elton in NYC at Madison Square Garden. If you’re a huge fan of someone’s music you can make a vacation out of it.

If you have such a problem with the blacks…move to a country where there are not any blacks. So you think we like to ruin things for the whites…you think you are so special that the blacks even consider you …we are more concerned that we learn to speak and understand Spanish, so that we stay relevant in a country where your race will be a minority soon. We are not even thinking about how any of our actions impact you. Throughout history, the whites have tended to ruin more things for other races than blacks…primarily because they think that they are somehow more special and entitled. Thank God they are not!

@ Wink I saw Elton at The Tabernacle and Phillips. I did not have to “fly into” anyfreakinwhere to see him. I paid a couple hundred bucks for both. If you are telling the truth ( and I doubt it) you shelled out thousands for the same thing. PT Barnum always said “A fool and his money are easily parted”.. I guess that makes you a fool.

“we are more concerned that we learn to speak and understand Spanish”

Mo what are you talking about. Most blacks cannot even speak English. Most use words like “dat”, “dis”, “fo”, “dey”,etc. But my all time favorite black word is “Axe”. As in “Let me AXE you a quesshun”. So work on English instead of Ebonics.

Hey, I love SN and FM, and I wouldn’t pay $10 to hear her now. Her voice occasionally sounds okay, but more often than not, watch out.

That said, I was coerced into seeing Roy Clark (Hee Haw) a few weeks ago; 78, and he went to sleep on the stage while his band was playing…

But he can still riff a guitar, can still sing, and man, can he play a fiddle.

WOW … not sure how this thread got into racism … I am the lead singer in a local band and we are doing a Stevie Nicks tribute set. At our gig this past Saturday night our manager surprised us (the entire band) with pit tickets (8 rows from the stage seats) just so I can watch and perfect my STEVIE-ism for ur tribute show …. I am a fan and some say I sing like her … I hope she is OK and ready to rock on Wed…I agree with Southside Steve about today’s music (they just don’t make it like they did back in the 70’s and early 80’s) … I would like to see this thread kept as a GET WELL STEVIE instead of a ‘race bashing’ (btw I am white) … anyway …. just sayin’

In the last 25 years I’ve seen Stevie with or without the Mac in 11 different states. Like someone said we make a vacation around her shows. Besides the “local” north east coast venues in NY NJ MA CT & PA we’ve gone to FL TN NE AZ CO and CA for a vacation and a show (or sometimes 2 of her shows). And yes some people do make enough money to be able to do that and not worry about how much it may cost. Is she as good as she was? probably not, Does she still put on a good show yes!, Id rather pay to see her than 90% of the dreck you hear on the radio these days, artists that 10 years from now whose careers will involve the phrase “Would you like fries with that?”

Jeffrey

August 15th, 2011
9:43 am

I’m not going to see her for two reasons- and they are nothing to do with race, her age, her voice, or travel time. I’m not going to see her because she made this show a “Rock Set Up” so people cannot bring in any food or drinks. Bringing your picnic dinner is what makes Chastain Park so unique and special. And second, last time she performed here, she played less than 1 hour. I’m not kidding, she had about a 55 minute set with no encore. I was very unhappy and made the decision to not waste my money on her anymore. Good luck to the folks going on Wednesday…

Jeffrey

I also totally agree with the people that are making vacations around their entertainment choices. My wife and I have made several trips to various cities around concerts by Bruce Springsteen and Keith Urban. These bands know how to put on a show and I guarantee you that if they ever get to the point in their careers where they are playing the smaller venues like Chastain, they would never ask for the Rock Set Up and not allow food and drinks to be brought in. It’s not about the money for me, but it’s obvious Stevie (or her managment) wants a bigger cut of the concessions. Looks GREEDY to me…

Why are people so pissy about someone paying to see an artist somewhere other than Atlanta? Why do they have to be called a fool? If “Wink” can afford to fly to London to see Elton John, why do you care? I doubt that’s the only thing he/she did while in London. Maybe we should all just stay in Atlanta and wait for everything to come to us and never go outside the confines of the great State of Georgia for entertainment because to do that would just be stupid.

Jeffrey – she played a 75-minute set with Rod Stewart (7:30-8:45 p.m., I still have my notes) because that’s the way the show was set up. You could tell from the staging and the set lengths that even though it was technically a double bill, Rod clearly was the headliner. And I’m not sure I follow your logic on Chastain. How does postponing the show two days make her greedy, especially since she’s had to move other dates as well? It’s possible that she, like many artists who play Chastain, would prefer the focus be on her music and not conversations about dessert.

I interviewed her a couple of weeks ago and she specifically talked about looking forward to playing her usual two-hour set:
http://www.accessatlanta.com/AccessAtlanta-sharing_/stevie-nicks-takes-new-1080475.html

Also, guys, speaking of focus, let’s try to keep a posting about music about…music. Thanks.

Ima is right. Michael Grimms is quite an amazing singer. I just went to the Stevie Nicks concert in the Houston area this past weekend, not to see her but to see the opening singer Michael Grimm. He sang 8 songs, including songs from his new CD. His voice is so powerful and he sings with so much emotion. If you don’t listen to any other song, listen to “Stay With Me Baby”. Wow!! Check him out at Youtube, and go to his Facebook page. He’ll have someone opening for him before long I do believe!

@Melissa, I didn’t say that moving the show back two days made her greedy. I said that her decision to make this show a “No tables, food, or drink” setup made her appear to be greedy and want the concessions numbers to be bigger (thus, a larger cut for the performer). There is always one or two acts every summer that do this and I disagree with it. If you don’t like the fact that everyone at Chastain brings in tables, candles, food, and wine- then don’t play at Chastain. I’m sure you see my point here…

Jeffrey

I really wish she would play a two hour set. She definitely has the catalog of great music to pool from. If she did play even an hour and a half and I were allowed to bring in the food and drinks that I usually bring to a Chastain show, I would be there on Wed. night…

Wow! I agree with Sher… how did this denigrate into a forum of racisim??!!! It is a shame, though, that people who obviously know nothing about Stevie Nicks, her performances of late, or her music, find themselves so full of b.s. that they have to spew it all here. I saw Stevie in Houston just 2 nights ago. She put on an almost 2 hour show…. she admitted that she was having trouble with her voice. I have seen and heard that she has done a couple of months of press for her NEW cd that came out in May…. and that’s hard on a singer’s voice! Anyway, her show was great… SHE was great… and she still can bring me to tears!! (How many 63-year-old women do you know who can still rock it??) For the nay-sayers out there… try checking out some of the new songs from her new cd (which, btw, she did several songs from in this show)… you might be pleasantly surprised! Make SURE you know what you’re talking about, BEFORE you bash someone…. (and, it’s a good thing to keep in mind in your everyday life, too!!) Feel better soon, Stevie!!!

Got tix to see Stevie to check off another performer from my bucket list. I’ve seen 300+ concerts and thought this would be a great “date” show. Then I get to see the phenomenal guitarist Eric Johnson Thursday at the Variety.
Fly or travel to a rock show? Hell yes I would….especially to see ultimate hard rock bands (that never come to the deep south) like Maiden, Priest, Thin Lizzy and UFO and Michael Schenker is actually on tour as well.
I like to bring in food and my packed cooler like the next guy, but freaking CHAT-STAIN and the typical picnicking people won’t shut the hell up or show some respect during the performances. Frampton just stopped and stared mid-song a few weeks ago in utter disbelief. I was actually embarrassed…..I’m glad it’s a ROCK show setup….see you cats Wednesday night.

Ok, so I check the website to find out if Stevie is ok or how serious the illness may be, and then I see all of these lame comments bashing Stevie Nicks below the brief article. What a bunch of sad people with nothing better to do than write negative comments about one of the legendary female rock icons of our time. I am embarrassed to be from Atlanta now. Stevie is an awesome performer today. If you were 63 and on the road you would have to make some adjustments in your performances too to preserve your health. Her schedule is non-stop this summer. I saw her with Rod Stwart back in March and am going again to see her Wednesday night. Stevie gives nothing but love and positive feelings and she is very humble and gracious about her success at something she truly loves and was born to do. This is my first blog ever, I had to. I’ve just been reading over these comments. I have to say, people do have alot of opinions. I myself will be going to see Stevie Nicks. As a long time fan, and someone who has been to several concerts as a teenager, hers is one I never made it to. This will be the most wonderful night because she is such a spiritual and mystical person and even just seeing her on tv, you can feel the love and positive energy she has inside. She expresses that energy through her music. If more people would learn from her, I think this world would be a much better place. I look forward to seeing you Stevie Nicks and know it will be one concert I will never forget. Peace and Love be with you.

I understand if she needed to cancel her show for medical reasons. However, i do not agree with rescheduling it for Wednesday Aug 17th which means she is cancelling her Indy show that night. Second time she has cancelled in Indy this year. Three shows that were scheduled at the Indy State Fair (Wed, Thur, Fri) also won’t be playing due to the tragic stage collapse. She could have been more sensitive to the situation in Indy and honored her obligation to play at Verizon. Love Stevie, but she has really let me down!

Stevie Nicks was good to see perform in her prime but now she’s just a predictable fat boring old lady shell of what she used to be. Plus she’s a greedy money grubbing bee. Personally, I love seeing all the classic rockers, but if Stevie never plays in the Atlanta area again it will be too soon for me. I also find it weird that girls from their teens to their mid-twenties idolize Stevie Nicks almost to the point that they think she’s a goddess who loves them in return. Hopefully someday they will realize that Stevie only desires their $$$$$$ and really couldn’t care less if they drop dead the minute after they’ve transferred all the funds from their accounts into hers. Not hatin’, just sayin’.

I don’t believe STEVIE personally cancelled the show in Indy … I am pretty sure her management is the one that made that decision … so don’t be slammin’ her … she is awesome to be her age and still able to tour/perform … I can only imagine .. I am a lead singer in a local band and playing just 3 days every weekend wears me out and burns me out and I am 51 … so give her a break … I am sure she is NOT greedy … THIS IS HER JOB …. it’s her source of income … just like the ones that go to an office every day … and as far as her wanting a concert setting, I don’t BLAME her … if you are gonna pay that kinda money to SEE her, why ya wanna sit around a table and eat and chit chat and ignore her?? She’s probably like “HELLO, I am performing my butt off up hear…you folks paid lotsa money to see me now pay attention!!” Nothing worse than playing a venue and folks say hey turn the music down we are trying to talk … I’m like, well shut the crap up I’m trying to WORK!!! I’m getting paid to perform … if you wanna chit chat GO TO STARBUCKS!!!

She just lost a lot in my book. I live in INDY and she cancelled our show because of 1 thing, money. Atlanta sold more tickets so she broke her comittment to us. First, no one even knows if the medical was actually Stevie. Second, the food, picnic, blah blah – has gotten out of hand over the years. I don’t blame Stevie and/or her promoters for asking for a show without all the busy busy around candles, pass the wine, pass the salt, blah blah. It’s a concert – come listen and enjoy. I’ve been to so many shows (sitting at a table) where people are so noisy, more involved in their shrimp and wine and socializing that the concert is really not their priority. It’s extremely disturbing to those who only want to go for the music. Now, with that said – due to the heat in Atlanta – it would have been preferable for most that concert goers be allowed to bring a small cooler of drinks.

She has canceled multiple times on Indianapolis. I understand a health emergency, but why treat your loyal fans in Indianapolis with such disregard in order to reschedule another city. We do not have another date. I have been a lifelong fan, but no longer.

Seriously ??? Do ya’ll REALLY think Stevie is PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for cancelling the Indy show??? Obviously ya’ll don’t understand the business … trust me … Stevie does NOT call the shots as to what shows are cancelled/rescheduled period! HER M-A-N-A-G-E-M-E-N-T company does … guess if something out of her control happens that you don’;t like you stop being a fan then guess you weren’t a TRUE fan to begin with … you think her management calls her up and says …. HEY STEVIE, you want us to cancel your show in Indy and make all your fans mad???? NO …they call HER and say we are cancelling the show in Indy because ….. ????? for whatever THEIR reasons were …. Stevie just wants to sing and entertain …. Please stop bashing on her, k? She is 63 yrs old for goodness sake and probably just glad she’s still capable to get up and sing period and that she still has a following!!!!! >just sayin< LOOKING forward to seeing you tonite Ms. Nicks … rock on sister!!

I AM A HUGE FAN OF STEVIE NICKS, AND FLEETWOODMAC. I SAW THEM IN CONCERT IN ATLANTA, GA AT THE OMNI. IN 1982 THEY DID A OUTSTANDING SHOW!!! STEVIE NICKS IS A GREAT SINGER AND A SONG WRITER. AND VERY TALENTED! SHE WRITES HER OWN SONGS, I WISHED I COULD HAVE GONE TO THIS CONCERT. TO THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO SEE STEVIE, HAVE A GREAT TIME. TAKE CARE STEVIE.

Atlanta show was fantastic! Stevie still rocks and sings beautifully! The show was nicely mixed between new songs alternating with “old treasures”. It was a very personal show and of course great venue at Chastain! Michael Grimm was great also…will definitely look into more of his music! Stevie’s voice was truly strained and she tried to save it for singing instead of talking. She sang beautiful as usual. She put on such a great show and I’m so glad I got to see her again. Indiana, I’m sorry her show was cancelled I hope she reschedules soon. I’m still floating on clouds from the show! Stevie will always be one of my favorite songwriters and performers!

Yea, the reason Stevie is playing in Atlanta is because she decided to slap Indianapolis in the face, cancel the concert here and come to Atlanta instead. What a classless act! They notified Indy 48 hours prior to the concert. We had our tickets for 2 months…will never buy another ticket for her concerts. After what Indy went through last weekend, we really needed an escape. Train & Maroon 5 are playing here tonight & donating all their proceeds to the Memorial fund of the people that lost their lives…Now that is CLASS!

She canceled in Indy 10 years ago because of illness and NEVER resheduled. Don’t hold your breath Indy. I for one will not be tying up any of my money anymore on a concert of hers and then find out it’s canceled. I agree, we budget, make plans, vacations days and then get let down a second time. And after Saturday in Indy this was a poor decision even if her management company did make it. Nobody forces her to go onstage and open her mouth. She has a say in what happens. Props to Train and Maroon 5 for moving their show to Conseco from the fairground and performing and donating over 300 grand to the victims. These are true performers who care. I agree, if Stevie was across the street, I’d let everyone else go see her now. I’ve been burnt too many times. I doubt Indy is going to be too receptive even if she does try. Maybe that is why it wasn’t sold out to begin with. Once bitten….

People are talking bad about the Queen!!!! What???? You people are obvioulsy bitter and jaded and have nothing better to do than spread your negative energy around. Stevie is one of the best singers AND songwritters of our time. If you have no tallent and no taste; keep you useless and uninfomred comments to yourself. She is 60-freakin-3 after all!!!!

If you Indy fans are that loyal – drive to Cinci. She will be there tomorrow night. That is what I did. So can you.

Hey Rich-some of us work and can’t get off to drive to Cinci to see her. Hell, thats another 4 hours for me in addition to the 2 to get to Indy and then I might get there and the show would be cancelled. Not doing that anymore. Have fun. I don’t want to say anything bad about her. I wish her the best. But given the situation in Indy the past week, Atlanta should have been rescheduled and Indy left the same. If she was sick Wednesday night, that would be one thing, but to be in Atlanta and singing is disgusting. Meanwhile Maroon 5 and Train stepped up and did the right thing. Moved their show to Conseco and donated money to the victims of the stage collapse. Stevie pulling out along with 5 other concerts in one week in Indy is sickening. Indy is loyal. We have been burnt twice by Stevie now and not a single word from her lips about it either time. That’s real loyal. Probably won’t sell too many tickets for Stevie now in Indy, unless everyone wants to take a huge gamble that she will even show up. I for one, don’t!
