Jay-Z and Kanye West heading to Philips Arena

jay-z-kanye-west-watch-the-throne-300x204The kings of rap are going on tour.

The hugely anticipated pairing of Jay-Z and Kanye West – aka The Throne – will first arrive with the Aug. 8 iTunes release of “Watch the Throne,” which fans have been hearing about for months.

On that same date, tickets to their tour, including the opening Oct. 29 stop at Philips Arena, go on sale.

Fans who purchase concert tickets online will receive a digital copy of the album.

Pre-orders for the album, “Watch the Throne,” start today. If you order the deluxe version of the album at iTunes, which is set to hit other digital and physical outlets Aug. 12, you can download the track “Otis” immediately. The track hit the web last week, and features a substantial sample from Otis Redding’s classic, “Try a Little Tenderness.”

Beginning Aug. 2, go to Live Nation’s “Watch the Throne” page to get in on the ticket pre-sale for the fall tour.

The most puzzling thing about the title to me is a throne can only belong to ONE king. So it surprises me that its a duo album. My thoughts are that Jay-Z simply could not carry an album on his own and needed Kanye to help it out. Kanye went along with it.

If weezy is king of anything it’s making 13 year old white girls go crazy. He sounds like crusty the clown and is more pop than anything. K-west is the best beat maker / producer of our time and on top of that he raps.

@Lisa, Are you sure about that? The album debut at number one and sold almost two million copies in the US. I think he can do it by himself. Kayne is just a nice addition.

Kanye will carry this group with his beats and flow! Everything is a basically a sample nowadays, so who really cares, atl”lion”? And lil wayne is a hype, junkie, whatever you want to call it. Good thing he was locked up or he probably would’ve been another Amy Winehouse (dead @ 27)… R.I.P. by the way.

Why are these 2 yahoos both wearing sunglasses in a dark arena ?

Will there be 20,000 people in Phillips wearing sunglasses, after 11:PM, in a dark arena, with the lights off ?

@ Jay, I agree with you 100% on DJ Premier…..Classic beats that can’t be duplicated. Some acts still can do it, & $20 is worth the price. I just copped tix for Raekwon, Ghost & Mobb Deep @ Tabernacle….Some acts are a can’t miss. Even though I respect Jay Z & Kanye, them dudes feeling they selves way too much for me to break serious bread to see their show and sit next to a HS chic when all i’m checking for is their old hits anyway!

To coachx – You’re not very bright are you? All of your responses are bland to say the least. Get a life! You’re probably one of those 45 year old incredibly fat people who can’t get out of bed and still lives with his mother. Couldn’t wait to post a comment, could ya!

I’ve heard the whole spiel over and over about rap concerts being wack but I saw Jay at Phillips the week of my birthday in ‘10 and I just saw Kanye at Essence. Both of them ripped it! I’ll def be there in October. You don’t want to miss it.
