Last month, Cee Lo Green headed to Culver City, Calif., to tape a two-hour installment of VH1’s “Storytellers.”

The resulting performance will air at 11 p.m. May 20 on VH1.

During the show, which featured Green performing 10 songs in front of a 150-member audience, the Atlanta-based soul man reunited onstage with Goodie Mob and announced that the group is getting back together for a future album.

Green also dedicated “She Knows” to his mother, who died when he was a teenager, and apparently got emotional during the performance.

“I feel like I’m living out her dream, her want for me,” he said from the stage.

Green didn’t neglect the song that will forever be identified with him, the euphemistically renamed “Forget You,” and kicked off the show with his Gnarls Barkley hit, “Crazy.”

Dawgville bite = DORK. Also, what is a Cee Lo? Why do these thugs have to have such messed up names? Is it that hard to go by your given name?

Why do you have to bash Cee lo. He’s one of the few legitimate mainstream singers left today. The guy can actually perform with incredible emotion and pitch, unlike 99% of artists today. His real name is Thomas DeCarlo Calloway btw. I’d be looking to shorten my name too

A true talent. The epitome of an artist. BTW, his real name is “Thomas Callaway”. But then, again, what’s in a name? Oh No!

cee lo, oh! no, is a grammy nominated artist that sells millions in not one but THREE genres of music: pop/r&b, hip hop, and alternative. what makes u think of him as a thug? listen to his first album. there is an interlude that asks ” don’t you have anything for the thugs”? and he replies “kinda”, then proceeds to straight RIDICULE anyone representing the whole “thug” persona… do ya home work first oh! no, before you wind up looking like a jackass and being called uh! oh

Everyone knows that “thug” is the endearing term that all racists use these days. It’s used to describe black athletes, entertainers, as well as anyone arrested with their picture in the paper that has some melanin. No one who embraces our multi-cultural society knows that Cee Lo is anything but…a thug.

He is no THUG – in fact he is quite talented. Although I think he needs to lose a few pounds for health reasons. — but, his music it self – stands out among an industry releasing songs for radio play, that have NO BUSINESS – even being near a radio station. Cee Lo – keep doing cross over! you found your niche.

a proud ATLIEN from S.W. Atlanta and not only am I down with Cee-Lo, but one of my closest friends is his Body Guard or as we civilized folks refer to him as-his crowd liason. He went to high school down the street from my house & even though we went to different schools, we were always cool. Anyway, Im getting my law degree in 9 months, and thankful because Cee-Lo always encouraged me to stay in school, stay away from drugs, & even told me to pray for my enemies. He said “when you have G-D inside you, those that don’t, will not understand you, so they will fear you, or hate you, but you must rise above them and stay true to G-D, yo mamma, & yourself”. That’s a Cee-Lo quote & hes far from a thug. SO don’t let the smooth taste full you…let it fulfill you!

@ “I’ve Known Cee-Lo For 15 Years”, yes you have known him, and I can tell by the way you described him. Everything you said about him is the GOD IN HEAVEN truth. I to know his immediately family very well, and I can still to this day see him pushing his Mother in her wheelchair into church after the accident that killed her. He has always been the perfect gentleman in every sense of the word, and was brought up by his Mother to always do the right thing. The first time I heard him sing was at his Auntie’s wedding, and the the way he sang that love song brought tears to my eyes. I knew then that this young man was going places. Just stay on the right track Cee-Lo the way your Mom and G’mother taught you, and pray for the haters.
