Lauryn Hill makes up for botched January show

From there Here’s Something You Don’t See Everyday Files:

An email to those who purchased tickets to Lauryn Hill’s Jan. 14 show at Center Stage hit the inbox this afternoon, inviting those same ticket buyers to a free, invite-only show March 30 at the venue.

“Due to the late start, Ms. Hill felt the fans didn’t receive a proper representation of the true musical experience she intended them to have,” it said in part.

Hill, whose excessive tardiness to her shows has been well-documented, stayed true to those habits at the January concert, arriving on stage just before midnight and playing a set that had the blogosphere buzzing.

According to some reports, many in the sold-out audience walked out once Hill announced that she was tired of playing the same music every night and indulged in unrecognizable versions of her songs.

The email provides details about how to claim the free tickets (you will receive the same number of tickets you purchased for the original show).

A second show has also been added for March 31. Tickets are on sale now for $67.50.

Good for the ticket-buyers.

Robin Thicke should have done that when he performed for only 30 minutes during his December 2008 show at the Atlanta Civic Center. Then again, artists should perform right the first time and give the concert attendees their money’s worth! This is great for those who are able to attend the second show. Many people travel from surrounding cities and states to attend Atlanta area concerts. Those who have other plans might not be able to go to the March 30 show.

That’s what you get for paying $70 to see Lauren Hill many years after her prime with only 1 true ‘classic’ album lol. She doesn’t care about the fans or A. she wouldnt charge so much or B. say and pull some stupid s**t like she did at Center Stage after charging fans that much.

come on son

This is the exact reason I decided not to go and pay $70 bucks. The last time I paid to see Lauryn perform she was a no show. I will just keep listening to the Mis-education.

How difficult is it to spell Atlanta instead of ATL? It makes you appear like an out of control texting teenager.

OMG Did U C Lauren?

Lauren Who….???? She is no longer on the radar and surely dosen’t command a $70.00 ticket price to see her, if she shows up, perform old music…Mind you I didn’t classify her music as Classic; as she had sampled her music…No star quality…!!!

lauryn is on my ipod now and she was spinning in my cd player before that….your comments are your own, but it won’t negate her presence and her talent.

for those of us who are true L. boogie fans we’ve kept up with her and know that she has gone through some things….like a lot of us.

i didn’t get a chance to go to the former show, but if anyone who feels she isn’t worth seeing…send your ticket email to me…i’ll let her know how much we still love her in atlanta!

for those of you who feel she has no star quality…you didn’t know her in the first place….and certainly wasn’t around when “the mis-education of lauryn hill” was released and so you’ll never understand the context of those time or the timeless quality of her music.

did she command the $70.00 ticket price or was it the promoters?

such harsh criticism from some of you who listen to radio stations that play the same music every 30 minutes…and if you miss the song on one station, by the time you switch to the other they will be playing it there…you don’t know jack!

Give this talented singer a chance to make it back. Were you saying this about her when her music was on top. These same people will hasten to say give Crazy Charlie a chance and his job back. Her tardiness has to go as it definitely shows disrespect to her fans, but her music is worth it.

Hi if you guys went to the show and you still have your ticket stubs just take them to the box office. All info is on the centerstage-atlanta website! For all you “haters” if Lauryn Hill didn’t care about her fans she wouldn’t be doing a FREE concert! BTW I thought her first show in ATL was AMAZING!

I attended her show in Charleston. She is amazing. The negative commentors HAVE NO CLUE WHO LAURYN HILL IS. . . .I suggest

google: “Lauryn Hill Speech”.

God is Good!

How many of today’s artists respects the fans by giving away a FREE concert for these reasons?!?!?!

oh, stop the hatin’ on lauryn. i heard (from someone who was actually there) that the show she did right after this one was phenomenal. AND on time. now she’s trying to do right by her fans at the january 14 show. what other artist does this?! give her props where props are due.

oh, and btw: whether you love her or hate her, the least you could do is spell her name right. all you gotta do is copy it from the article. it’s not hard.
