Atlanta’s Janelle Monáe is among the 12 honorees for the third annual “Character Approved Awards,” produced by the USA Network.
The Awards, which will be detailed in a one-hour interview special at 11 p.m. March 8 on USA, pay tribute to visionaries changing the face of American culture.
Monáe, who lit up the Grammy stage last month with Bruno Mars and fellow ATL-er B.o.B. , was chosen as the music representative. Other honorees include foursquare founders Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai, Broadway star Lily Rabe and author Nicole Krauss.
Tickets are on sale now for Monáe’s May 10 show with Mars at the Fox Theatre.
Here’s a snippet of Monáe from the USA special talking about her move to Atlanta.
