Vermont’s indie roots rockers Dispatch will embark on its first summer tour in nearly a decade and has Atlanta tagged as one if its six dates.
The band, which has thrived on word-of-mouth appeal, will play Chastain Park on June 21. Tickets to all shows (the tour begins June 4 at Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado) are $40 and go on sale at noon Jan. 28.
Fans can sign up for pre-sale access at www.dispatchmusic.com.
Dispatch is also offering free downloads of its entire studio catalog to fans willing to do a little promotion. By friending the group on Facebook, following it on Twitter or sending a handful of emails to alert others of the tour, fans will receive a special code to access the downloads (check the website for details).
The band is considered one of the few indie pioneers, always shunning major record labels and establishing a massive following (Dispatch drew more than 110,000 people to its most recent hometown appearance at Boston’s Hatch Shell).
Later this month, the trio of Brad Corrigan, Pete Heimbold and Chad Urmston plans to hit the studio to work on its first new material in 11 years. The band’s last studio album is 2000’s “Who Are We Living For?”
