Pop Sensation Justin Bieber Sells Out Gwinnett Arena Monday Night

Sixteen year-old, Canadian pop-R&B sensation Justin Bieber sold out the Gwinnett Arena Monday night on his “My World Tour.” Opening acts included Sean Kingston, Jessica Jarrelle and Vita Chambers. Before the show, fans were treated to a showcase called Teen Island where up-and-coming acts played onstage in the parking lots. These included Aaron Fresh, Khalil, Burnum and Bryan J.

AJC photographer Robb Cohen covered the show with his camera. Check out the 25-photo online gallery: Justin Bieber in concert . What did you think of the show? What was your favorite artist and song? Will Biebermania last much longer?

The opening acts were too long lasting nearly until 9:30 and many of the kids were not entertained by it! The rap…and make some noise mantra was moronic at best. Justin is cute but too manufactured by marketing people. Justin would have been better off without those opening acts and replacing them with more childhood videos or a well known country/pop singer. Hard rap does him NO good and brings his show down a few notches!

I agree with Elong’s post, but will add, they need to rethink the stage level. We had floor seats, but couldn’t see the stage. Our girls were trying to stand on the seats to peer over adults heads, and were constantly being told to get down. I am 6′ and wasn’t planning on standing (to let the kids behind see cause I could care less), but I ended up standing and holding my 9 year old so she could see. I love loud music to a degree, but at least on the floor level, it was ear drum blowing and didn’t sound good at all, especially those “warm-up” bands.

As far as the opening acts went, I enjoyed Burnham and Vita Chambers but 5 hours was a bit much. I agree with Elong, that Justin is too manufactured but I enjoyed his performance. I thought the elevated heart was pretty cool.

The whole room was preteen girls and they were introducing Jermaine Dupree and Akon.I would say that 90% of the kids did not know who they were. I enjoyed Burnham but the show was way to long. Since it started at 7:00 is hould have been over @9:30.

I don’t agree with Elong at all! The opening acts were only 1 1/2 hours. I thought it was an excellent show with very high energy that the kids enjoyed. My daughter and her friend had the times of their lives! I even enjoyed and I’m 45 years old. And most preteens do know who Akon is. Maybe Elong’s child was too young to be at the concert…..

Another poor thing at this concert was the use of text messaging to further the Vita Chambers propaganda! Kids were told during concert to text to Vita for the chance to win meeting her after concert. Kids feverishly texting giving Vita all that cell phone access to further her marketing machine! Days later we get another text from her pretending to be a “friend” and asking for the kids email addresses for a tee shirt & CD sales etc…very poor idea and doesn’t win parents over at all! This marketing mechanism using kids as their platform is pathetic. Entertainers and their managers have lost touch with true values! The managers of this show should be totally ashamed! On a positive note it was a good lesson to teach my girls how to discern propaganda from good common sense! The show went from 7:00 – 10:30 very inappropriate time span on a Monday night for elementary school aged kids which was the majority in attendance.

I think the concert was great! My daughter is 14 and LOVED every second of it! I think Jarrell and Chambers were really good and Sean Kingston was great! It was well constructed and enjoyable for adults as well. You cant please everyone, but for Justin Bieber’s fans I dont think he will have any complaints! I didnt know he was coming back to ATL or we would have gone VIP again! It was a great experience for my daughter and I enjoyed every minute of the show! KUDOS JB and crew!!
