On October 15, the Piedmont Park Conservancy is holding a huge concert to raise money, but how can they top Paul McCartney last year?
The non-profit group is certainly going to try. The rumored big name? We can’t say, but fans of this Baby Boomer-friendly band should have a peaceful, easy feeling about the selection.
The band name will be announced at a press conference next week.

I’ve seen The Eagles twice now, and they were absolutely incredible both times. That’d be an awesome show.

Hopefully, they will stick to their early rock vibes and not the newer country sound.. Just sayin’ Walsh much better electric than acoustic..

I don’t know, but its guaranteed to be overpriced and likely suck.
We need a decent festival like the rest of the major cities. Something like Lolla, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Outside Lands, Austin City Limits, Etc…

I’m just glad they’re continuing the tradition! Eagles would be good. But I’d rather see someone/group GREAT! Someone above suggested Garth… I giggled, but I’d TOTALLY go see that! Not sure he still has it! He knows how to rock a crowd though – anyone see that Central Park show he did? Still I’d love to see something GREAT. Frankly, I’d love to see Elton! I’ve seen him in Pensacola and Johnson City, TN… would love to see him in his part-time home town of Atlanta.

The Eagles released a new double CD a couple of years ago that was GREAT. They can still make better music than 90% of what is played on the radio these days. But that’s another discussion for another day. I look forward to the official announcement.

Anyone that doesn’t appreciate the Eagles has ZERO taste in music. They are American Icons and musically put on one of the best shows you will ever see.
People who put down the Eagles, Stones and other older acts are just freakin’ jealous of their success.

DMB music all sounds the same. I went to his show and the audience hardly paid attention to 90% of it. Only when he played Ants was their any resounding applause. Seems it was the only song most of them knew.

Drake is gonna be here and the whole Young Money crew. You know he’s October’s Very Own. Why not play in the ATL. It will be too cold in Toronto and we all know that ATL put him on the map. I can’t wait to see Nikki Minaj skanky azz perform!!! Also they are suppose give Lil Wayne a furlough day from Rikers so he can perform……How cool is that? Who the heck is the Eagles anyway. With a name like that, they need to be in Denver performing.

Trust me, i’ve seen the concert reports – lots of cancellations this year. Mainly groups charging too much to play arena/amphitheatre size shows – Eagles, Jonas Brothers, Rhianna, Xtina.
McCartney has had no problems selling out his shows this year.
Smaller shows have held on pretty well. But most of the big shows were being overpriced by promoters after guaranteeing big dollars to the acts.
It is the economy, I agree. But The Eagles have been one the acts hit pretty hard by the economy on their tour.
They’ll need to cut their avg ticket price by 50% to have any chance to draw 30K.

Lame. The “Eagles” are about 20 years past being any good. Paul McCartney is on a different planet compared to those guys. Zzzzzzzzz….

The Eagles are still great live. They may be in their 60’s but Paul MacCartney is 70 and is more of a ‘has-been’ than the Eagles. At least the Eagles have never been reduced to singing things like ‘The frog song’ & ‘Mull of Kintyre’. Paul’s best years were with the Beatles(propped up by John Lennon).

Actually, the Eagles only cancelled a few shows in June. I believe they still grossed over $48,000,000 from 28 shows so far this year. That ranks them as #2 for the first six months of 2010. I saw them three times in Vancouver. All of the shows were excellent!

Eagles tickets ALWAYS sell out in CA & they usually have to add shows to their tour schedule! In March of this year, I saw them for the 5th time…every concert has been outstanding, & even more remarkable than the previous one! If you’ve never been to one of their show, you have no idea what your talking about & should keep your negative comments to yourself.
They are FANTASTIC in concert, & always give an outstanding performance. Try it…you’ll be pleasantly surprised & very glad you were there!

magmol420 is right on the mark! I have seen the Eagles 11 times since May 14, 2008 show in Atlanta and EVERY show rocked!! They only canceled the Hershey and Philadelphia shows; Timothy B. Schmit was sick. I LOVE The Eagles, and if you have never seen them live, you have NO IDEA what you are missing!!!
