You can practically hear Atlanta tween hearts breaking. Yes, the Jonas Brothers have canceled the upcoming Atlanta date on their 2010 world tour. :(

The band has released a statement (that could have used at least one more period):

“Jonas Brothers released today an all-new world tour schedule that now includes additional shows in both Latin America and Europe. Due to recent changes in the Jonas Brothers’ schedule and the addition of several international tour markets on their upcoming Live In Concert world tour, the show at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta has been removed from the current routing, however the Jonas Brothers remain committed to their fans and will look to return to Atlanta as soon as possible. Tickets for this show will be refunded at point of purchase.”

The show was scheduled for Oct. 14 at  Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood. For more info on this sad turn of events, check with Live Nation or the Jonas Brothers official site.

I’m sure this has NOTHING to do with slow ticket sales for an act that is on 14:59 of their 15 minutes

Artists make more money overseas than they do in the U.S. Michael Jackson’s 50 concerts in London was sold out within a few hours of the announcement, and a waiting list had started, and he hadn’t even finished rehersals yet. Most people here were still talking about him like a dog. He would not have had that accomplished here in the states. Tina Turner is a hit everywhere but the U.S., and she is in her 60’s. How many people would pay $60 dollars to see her here. The Jonas Brothers are just trying to get paid. Snoop Dog is planning a concert overseas and trying to rent an entire city. They turned him down because he didn’t give them enough time, but he knew he would make a lot of money. Most people like free concerts.

I wonder if LiveNation/TicketMaster refund all those junk fees they tack on? They still had to ‘handle’ the ticket, and you still had to click on their website to save them money by printing on your own PC. Those costs still have to be recouped.

Translation of this article for those of you on this blog who are actually upset about this (this means you SAD at 3:41 p.m):

Ticket sales stink and they don’t want to spend money to play in front of a half-empty arena.

Advertisers and marketers and promoters seem to maybe, possibly, FINALLY realize that too much of ANYTHING (translation: over-exposure) is not good. People get bored if the same crap is thrust in front of them all the time.

Most people over 24 years old have never heard of these guys, don’t know a d*** thing they sing and could care less of they play in Atlanta or Algeria. Teens and tweens only have so much money to spend… it’s those of us who are ADULTS and OVER 30 and who have CAREERS who have the disposable incomes in this world… how ’bout listening to us for a change?

Finally: true talent endures. That’s why acts like this Beiber kid or the Jonas boys or Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus or pretty much ANYTHING you see on Nick at Nite or VH1 or MTV nowadays will simply be a trivia footnote 20 years from now. Conversely, that’s why acts like Paul McCartney, Rush, the Who, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Heart, Kiss, etc. have had careers that span decades…. they have the musical chops to succeed year after year and reach more than just a 14-year-old audience.

Hate to say it folks, but facts are facts… today’s microwave-generation musical acts will slowly disappear in the coming years because they have no staying power. I will say it again: true talent endures.

Europe and Latin America are just doing the bait-and-switch on the Jonas Brothers. When they arrive there, those shows will have to be cancelled too. Maybe Disney has a coffee house on the outskirts of Epcot…

Ok, my mom bought me the fanclub just so I could get these frikin’ tickets. They were front row, we waited until the exact time the presale started to get them. I have loved the Jonas Brothers for two years but this just aint cuttin’ for me.. Right now they are officially not on my good side and they better do something to make up for this. It might not be their fault but they could of least changed the date but NO just go ahead and cancel it instead..I use to care what people said about JB but as of now you can bash them all you want and I will not even care one single bit. So this is what I have to say to those Jonas Brothers: “SUCK IT!”

Love, Your # 1 FAN = )
P.S- I want my 50$ from the fanclub back,,,thanx a heap and lots of love!

Based on what my friends and I thought when the tour was first announced, I’m wondering if many others felt the same and it affected tix sales.

When they announced the tour, saying the shows would all be performed in outdoor ampitheatres where they would have different attractions for everyone “from the minute you walk in” to the area (read: carnival-like) and that the cast of ‘Camp Rock 2′ would be joining them/performing (along with Demi Lovato), my friends and I were like; “Huh?!? Camp Rock 2 cast performing with them throughout the show? Offstage attractions to visit?
What – is this tour for their 10 yr. old fans? We’re paying good money to see the Jonas Brothers, not ‘the Jonas Brothers performing with the Camp Rock cast’, etc.

Sadly, the JoBros are still joined to Disney’s hip and we think the union that once helped catapult them is now *hindering* them. They’ve grown. Their audience has grown and if they want to keep that audience, they can’t continue with the ‘kiddie geared’ concerts.

I know many people who, because of this tour’s format, didn’t buy tix. I think sales would have been as huge as last years had they stayed with the same format – indoor arenas with a couple of backup bands who aren’t Disney puppets and bring many of the ‘older than tween’ fans.

Their concert last year with Jordin Sparks and Honor Society was amazingggg! The fans who were expecting the same type concert decided not to buy tix after hearing the details of this tour’s concerts.

Anyway!…I really think that’s a huge part of why tix sales were down.

P.S. to the haters: They don’t “suck”, etc. They are all very talented. Hate is typically the by-product of jealousy. Just sayin’… ;-)

Even though i didnt get tickets all the other girls that did are heartbroken and i was happy that something for teenagers were coming to Wichita. Like what douchebags..forreal. I used to be a huge fan of theirs but now im like screw you ass holes. Good luck getting another sold out concert here in Kansas.

I bought tickets for my daughters 10th birthday. she invited a bunch of friends already. She’s been counting down the days and telling me every day how thankful she is that i got tickets. Now these little douche bags go ahead an cancel the show out of sheer greed and nothing more. Then they make a statement that they live for their fans blah blah blah! This is BS. They only care about the money that their marketing machine has drummed up for them. They are not about the music or the fanse, just about Sales. They are a bunch of untalented little pricks and will be a faint memory in a couple of years, hopefully. to the JB’s – you guys suck! You have dissapointed thousands of fans and my little girl. My middle finger to you!

They have no control (that’s the problem!) over what their management decides to do. It’s not about money, greed, etc. of the boys themselves. But from a business standpoint, their management (and Live Nation, who also calls the shots) have to cancel if the ticket sales don’t cover the overhead expenses.

Overhead expenses in this case = paying the roadies/stage hands for setting up and taking down…paying the sound and lighting tech’s…paying all of the background musicians (and the JoBro’s have a LOT of them)…paying Demi…paying the Camp Rocker’s (ugh!), paying the security details, etc.

It’s a huge expense and I’m thinking that maybe the ticket sales in the cities that were cancelled, didn’t cover their overhead, so management and Live Nation cancelled.

Bottom line: It’s not the BOYS fault. It wasn’t THEIR choice. They have a legally-binding CONTRACT with Live Nation (thank goodness, this year is their last year of that contract). So, as much as they may have wanted to perform, despite the poor ticket sales, they could not legally do that because it would have been a breach of contract and they could have been sued!

So, go easy on them. ;-) It wasn’t what THEY wanted.

I gave these tickets to my daughter for her birthday 2 weeks ago. She’s only 11 and has been on cloud 9 ever since knowing she’s going to get to see them. After getting the e-mail from Ticketmaster on Friday night stating the show had been canceled I had a moment of panic thinking that something bad had happened to one of them and I was going to have to break the news to her. Oh no….they’ve canceled our show plus many more in order to add shows in other countries!! Isn’t it great when the fans in the country that made them famous are the ones that get dumped on in order for the group and their management to line their already bursting pockets with more money. Why not just add shows in other countries after you finish what you’ve already committed to? I believe a strong message needs to be sent to the Jonas Brothers camp. The “Oh we’re so sorry but will come back as soon as we can” apology just doesn’t fly in this situation.

Honestly all of you need to lighten up! For those who you who were anticipating (or have kids who were wanting to go to the concert) get you refunds back! And how dare you try and blame for reasons that even you aren’t sure of! They have no control over this entire ordeal! Stop turning against them just because you’re kids are angry! Trust me, they’ll get over it.

And to those who are happy because of jealousy, get a life, and fast. It’s not like they were born in glitz and glamor. They were just like us at one point. But it was their talent and passion that put them on the spot. Unfortunately, there were fans that only liked them because they were th “in” thing. They still have an enormous amount of fans left. They’re not going anywhere, yet. Fans have just mellowed out.
