KISS brought their KISS:Alive 35 tour to Philips Arena Monday night, October 26, 2009. Buckcherry opened the show. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN KISS ON TOUR? SHOULD THEY HANG IT UP OR DO THEY STILL KNOW HOW TO ROCK AND DELIVER THE GOODS?

My first KISS show was in 1977. Last night’s show was just as good as the one in 1977. KISS is all about the show. Paul said it best last night. One goes to a KISS show to be entertained and forget about the messed up world. For two plus hours last night we forgot.

Well one thing is for sure. I would rather see tired ole KISS than that eating their own Dookie band, GreenDay. To whom I affectionately refer to as Green$*#@

I was born in 72 and I remember when KISS was all the rave growing up. We would dress up like them for Halloween, it was a trip. I never really thought they were great, I mean I do like some of their songs but for the most past I think they are way over rated. They are known more for their antics, costumes and make-up than the music. I don’t really get them….I would much rather hear some Zeppelin or Hendrix, but hey that’s just me.
Gene is an ego freak! But both our daughters share the same first name so I guess he isn’t all that bad. All in all, would I paint my face up and pay $100/ticket to see KISS live, not a chance.

Third KISS show (’96, ‘03, ‘09) and I would say the best of the three was last night. The 96 show was cool with Ace and Peter but the playing was better last night. Eric and Tommy are first rate players and have better voices than Ace and Peter. The harmonies were stellar, the drums were beter than the records and Tommy does Ace better than Ace does nowdays (although I don’t need him to recreate Ace’s solo note for note).
Look at the set list, Two from the new record (which is very good) and Lick It Up from the 80’s the rest stayed in the (classic) mid 1970’s

I do not know what’s up with the parents who HAVE to let everybody know, that they took their spoiled brat to “their first concert”. Will you announce to the whole world after they will have their first sexual encounter in teenage years? Geez, get a life, morons! Oh, by the way, my neighbor’s 1 year old just took a first massive dump in a potty! Now clap your hands and say “yeah”!….

old farts & haters of kiss:
tell me the last band you saw at Phillips that offered tickets for 19.95
other bands leave the seats empty rather than offer a cheap nosebleed
this is solid & should be respected regardless of your musical tatse

I’m the voice of reason on here, because I’m not a lifetime KISS fan since the late 70s… SO, i will give you an unbiased opinion:
I went to my first KISS show last night at Philips, and I can tell you, as a veteran of more than 30 rock concerts in my life, this was one of the BEST shows I’ve ever seen!!!!!
The entertainment factor was AMAZING, and THAT is why you go to a live rock ‘n roll show… for the SHOW. They put on a GREAT concert, with fantastic lights, pyros and visual effects (some of the best I’ve ever seen from any band & crew). The set list, while I would have liked a few more 80s songs, was a perfect blend of old and new. And to those “haters” who called Tommy and Eric “hired guns”… I will tell you, having seen some old concert footage in videos and online, these two guys TOTALLY beat Ace & Peter, hands-down, in terms of musical talent. Yeah, those other 2 were part of the great original lineup, but these two latest members have MUCH better musical chops.
Tommy’s guitar playing is awesome, and quite honestly carried the show… and Eric is a fun, talented, skilled drummer. And let’s be honest: for being around 60 years old, Peter and Gene STILL bring it and can beat some guys half their age in terms of energy and entertainment!
Yeah, it may be a little of the “same thing” from 10, 20, 30 years ago, in some ways, but ya know what? Paul said it best last night: people come to a rock concert as an escape and to have some fun. This is not a deep emotional experience or a life-changing event… if you want that, go see Tony Robbins or Oprah or Barbara Streisand. You want a great rock show experience for only $40? Go to a KISS concert!!!
I have wanted to see them since the mid-80s, since the Lick It Up-Heaven’s On Fire-Crazy Nights-Hide Your Heart days, and a 25-year wait was WELL WORTH IT!!! In terms of entertainment, this was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen!!! I know all the hard-core KISS fans around me had a GREAT time, and some of us first-time people also had a blast. KISS rocked Atlanta, and I’m glad I was there to see it!!!

Why r all you people so negative. Look at the pics everyone is smiling ag having a great time!!! Do people that actually know how to enjoy themselves really get to you that much? Kiss never said they were they Einstien of rock just out to have fun and put on a great show.Thats what they’ve done for 35 years and thats what they did last night!!! Whats wrong with that? All this misgiuded anger…really pathetic.

I saw KISS in Savannah in November, 1976. It was my first concert, and I, of course, became part of the KISS Army…But now, I have dropped out of the fun. Without Ace and Peter, this is not “KISS” but a wannabe excuse with Paul and Gene still trying to make a buck…And it looks like they have done well at that! I’m glad to see some aging rocker parents (like myself) took their kids to the show and had a great time. Just don’t tell how great the band is anymore. They STINK…
BTW, I’m taking my 14 year old son to see the Steve Morse band Saturday night…You can be sure THAT will be a musical event and not a cheese show….

My favorite show with Kiss was their unplugged evening Aug 1995. They were incredibly sound and tight of course there were no bombs bursting in air and fire everywhere, just 4 talented guys in a legendary rock band.

This Blog proves one thing — some people like KISS and some don’t. Big frickin’ deal. If you remember Ace Frehley as a fab guitar player you may need rehab like him….. Took my 18 year old and we had a blast. Great show, music sounded good and lots of good memories. Go spend your money on what you like morons….. WHAT A COUNTRY!
P.S. — whoever is commenting on how Paul kept talking about B’Ham being louder hasn’t been to many concerts — it’s a tried and true tactic to get the crowd louder.

I saw Kiss in Paris (France) in June of 2008 and I was blown away by the quality of their show. I fell in love with the new line up right away hoping that they would come up with a new album and they did! Last night, I saw people of all ages having a great time watching a band kicking #ss in a major way! The seats were from 19$ to 180$ and I was very pleased to see that! Kiss have nothing to prove!Last night they were here for us the fans and we will always ber here for them! That is what makes Kiss so unique! They are Rock and Roll!

Different strokes for different folks. I’m a so-called old fart (46) who took my 9 year old and we both had a ball. That’s more important to me than any of the inane comments I’ve read here. If you don’t like KISS fine, listen to something else and let the KISS fans have their fun. You only go around once. Some of you need to loosen up and enjoy it…
