Christian rock stars Third Day, Jars of Clay, Audio Unplugged, Thousand Foot Crutch, Glory Revealed and the African Children’s Choir performed Saturday night at Verizon Amphitheatre at Encore Park.

From Wiki: Third Day is a CCM and Christian rock band formed in Marietta, Georgia during the 1990s. The band was founded by lead singer Mac Powell, guitarist Mark Lee and former member Billy Wilkins. The other band members are bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr. The band’s name is a reference to the biblical account of Jesus rising from the dead on the third day following his Crucifixion. Multi-platinum-selling rock band Third Day has played to millions of fans in numerous sold-out arenas around the world. It’s garnered 25 No. 1 singles across multiple formats—not to mention armloads of Grammy and Dove Awards. Yet the band’s willingness to struggle openly before fans and critics alike to unearth its identity, purpose and mission stands as Third Day’s most valued accomplishment during its first decade together. Backing up the band’s ascent, Billboard magazine noted the act is “not only one of the best Christian bands of the ’90s but one of the best rock bands, period.”

Third Day rocked! We were enormously blessed by them as well as the African Children’s Choir and other groups. Their music is straight from Scripture; it has the rock beat but clean and uplifting lyrics. Thousand Foot Krutch is more of a heavy metal sound, a Christian AC/DC on the Highway to Heaven!

The words “christian” and “rock” belong together like “breakfast” and “burrito”.

Wow. He even looks like Jesus. No other fanatical religion rocks quite like Christianity!

It’s hard to believe that people actually listen to this stuff. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

Lloyd Braun, C Ortis, and others:
If you have no faith and you hate Christianity, I can see how you might not enjoy this, but there are those who benefit greatly from it and these Christians don’t hate you or badger your preferences. Please learn to respect freedom of religion as well as others’ needs and preferences and freedom to worship, whether you agree with it or not. The internet is a powerful thing. Try not to abuse it.

Third Day is an awesome band! If you listen to their music without taking in the words, you’d think so too – even if you weren’t particularly religious. But then, to have them be a Christian band and to listen to the lyrics, those who are religious can get so very much from them. They are true leaders in the worship of God. And their music is fantastic!

This concert was awesome…..I had never heard of half the bands that played, but I certainly am a fan of all of them now. They weren’t “contemporary”, they were more “hard rock” Christian bands, which is what I like. I loved this concert!! Jars of Clay was awesome!! Third Day did an awesome show, and Thousand Foot Crutch is one of my fave new bands!

My only gripe about “Christian Rock” is they ALL sounds the same. I think they all only know three songs, they just change the name. Actually worse than county. at least county bands know more than 3 cords.

Hey Son, no one has blasted the christian faith, I am one and proud to say so. We are blasting the lack of music talent. The promoters have learned that if you call it “Christian” , then a segment of the market will buy it regardless of the quality of the music.
