Hey St. Anger- I dont' blame the band for the sound either, maybe the in the round stage set is the issue. because all of the gear is way up in the suites up on the second level mezzaine. usually with a front stage set-up the sound boards are 3/4 of the way back on the floor. Anyways still a great show anyway you cut it- not many bands at all can put on half the performance 'tallica does. Phillps arena opened in late 2000 for the hockey season. The previous building was the terrible-sounding Omni which Metallica actually played the last event there in (I think) 1997 or '98, that was an amazing show--people were actually ripping the seats out and throwing them around it got so crazy in there that night (wish I had video of that to post)!! I hope they do come around again sooner, but most likely they won't and it will be at least 3-5 years before we see them in the southeast again, time to pack the car up and make a road-trip. I followed them around the northeast back in the early '90's and it was an incredible experience! I have some amazing photos I took of the ATL show, send me your e-mail and I will send you a few of them. May the mighty metallica machine keep on rollin'-

Yeah I read the other comments, alot of good ones. I agree though DD is either a kid being dumb or a fool who obviously did not go to the show. I must admit I am feel a little world weary for my age (mirror stares back hard) but I am glad I came up like I did because it gave me the chance to see Metallica several times. However even for the fans that it was just their first 'tallica show -welcome to the family, or rather I should say welcome home (sanitarium) ---- Just leave me alone! hehe

by the way great website! I saw some other stories from the tour and other shows, but this site is great, love the photos, really above and beyond. More then I can say for most other sites or outlets with stories about the metal gods. Rob is a great fit and they have honed their skills and show from when I saw them earlier in the tour in chicago. Metallica 'forever. I think if I ever have a kid his name will be "lars" hehe.

Ok check it I saw them play here and also the 2 shows in florida. I have seen them 15 times since '89, from coast to coast. Saw them twice in chicago last january. As far as this particular show the crowd energy was good but I agree with some of the comments on the sound. HOwever I don't blame the band I blame the venue. For example both shows in florida sounded better because I think the acoustics at the FL arenas are better, first time I saw @ show @ Philips. How old is philps arena by the way? Anyhow blackened was awesome and the entire show was great! I skipped the opening acts (like I always do) and I could tell James voice was a little hoarse but man if you thought this show was great you should have seen them the night before in tampa. Incredible. CHeck you tube. 'Tallica RULES!! I hope I can see them again next year, hope they keep touring or take a small break. If I have to wait 5 more years I will be "Madly in anger with the world" and that is sad but true.

So if we want to skip the opening bands tomorrow night in Mpls, Gojira for sure, what time do we arrive? What time does Metallica start, approximately?
