LIL WAYNE & YOUNG JEEZY ROCK LAKEWOOD SUNDAY NIGHT

Grammy winning rapper Lil Wayne headlined America’s Most Wanted Tour Sunday night, August 9, 2009, at the nearly full Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood. Also performing were Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Pleasure P and Jeremih. The hot steamy weather didn’t restrict the crowd’s energy as thousands of hip hop fans stood on their feet, dancing and singing along with each of the acts, culminating in Lil Wayne’s 90-plus minute sizzling set. One highlight from the concert was a surprise appearance by Akon during Young Jeezy’s set, as the two performed “Soul Survivor.” Akon and his brother watched Lil Wayne’s performance from the soundboard, signing autographs and posing for photos. The next big hip hop show takes place this coming Friday night as Mos Def and Jay Electronica play the Tabernacle. I’m told there are still a few tickets remaining for this show. WHO STOLE THE SHOW TONIGHT? WHAT WERE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS? HOW DID THIS LIL WAYNE SHOW COMPARE TO NEW YEAR’S EVE AT PHILIPS ARENA? These photos were all taken from the soundboard, first three songs only for each artist.

I’ve got a little quiz for readers of this blog…the first three fans who respond with the correct answers will receive a Lil Wayne photo from yours truly…here goes:

NAME THE ARTISTS’ STAGE NAMES THAT MATCH THESE PEOPLE: Jay Jenkins, Marcus Ramone Cooper, DeAndre Ramone Way, and Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.

Look on AccessAtlanta.com in the morning for more live photos from the show. UPDATE: http://projects.accessatlanta.com/gallery/view/music/hip-hoprb/lil-wayne-lakewood/

Please do not use the word “ROCK” and “LIL WAYNE & YOUNG JEEZY” in the same sentence. They are the opposite of rock. You could say that they strung a bunch of rhyming words together and hopped around with hype men wearing 40lbs of gold chains while dressed like crack heads and pimps? That would be more accurate.

JoMamma has hit the nail on the head. Simply a bunch of crotch grabbing chimps chanting to a drumbeat. I could fart in a mud puddle and sound better than these talentless fools.

Mark & JoMamma, your rants are clearly senseless and racist. You are quite cowardly to hide behind posts on the ajc. How comfortable are you making such statements in mixed company. “Fart in a puddle”? Clearly a sentence crafted by someone with barely a GED. The ironic thing is that most rap music is purchased by caucasions! So its your kids that provide the dollars for these rappers to purchase “40lbs of gold chains”. Does this mean that your kids are wannabe chimps? Hmmmm..begs the question, doesn’t it? This is a clear case of ignorant jealously. If you don’t understand something, trying being a bit more tolerable. I mean, I’m tolerable of ignorant Hicks like the two of you!
