Keyshia Cole’s Mom Is OK

Keyshia Cole’s mother is alive and well, and probably somewhere “Hol-la-ing.”

(That is, when she is not spouting her other well-known phrases from Cole’s BET reality show — “Man Down!” And “‘Code 10!”)

Apparently rumors otherwise had risen to the point that the Atlanta R&B singer’s publicist was compelled to issue this statement:

Imani Entertainment has received a huge amount of inquiries in regard to the rumor about Keyshia Cole’s biological mom, Frankie Lons (above, left), having recently passed in an automobile accident.  The rumor has absolutely NO truth to it — Frankie has not been in any accident of any kind and is doing well at home in Atlanta.

We want to thank all of Frankie’s fans for their concern.

Imani Entertainment

Spotted Frankie around town lately? Think she is worthy of a (long-rumored) reality show of her own? Read the book by Cole’s sister Neffe (above, center), “My Happiness Is My Sanity”?

I wish she would get her own show. Last season she made more appearances on the Keyshia Cole Show than Keyshia Cole.

Trash like Frankie does not need her own show. Frankie had 7 or 8 kids. She has not raised any of them. She does not respect the couple who raised & groomed Keisha to the woman she is today. I am tired of bad behavior being rewarded. Frankie and her nasty, over glossed up lips daughter Neffie need to go back to Oakland and stay….. with no carmeras around.

It is good to know Ms. Frankie is alive and well. I heard of the rumor by a blast text message to my Sprint cell. I think the rumor is evil and rude. But to have her own show is more evil. As an African American woman, I think this family has no class or style. It is very embrassing to see such beautiful women act in such manner for TV or NOT! Who wants to watch more trash on TV, bring back the Hustable.

I love to here Keisha Cole sing, I think she has great talent, and she’s such a pretty young lady. On the other hand her mother Frankie needs to grow up and start acting like a mother. I understand she had the problem with drugs, and I am so happy to see she is a recovering addict. But now she needs to stop the cussing and act mature and be the real mother now that she has a new chance in life. Everyone is not that fortunate!

I too am sick and tired of being sick and tired about the images of Blacks on these reality shows. It is an embarrasement to not only Black people but to all intelligent thinking people. It is sad that in 2009 so many of these shows have brought back the Amos & Andy sterotypical images and passing this trash off as entertainment. Let’s all complain to the sponsors and not purchase their products and quit watching this garbage…just turn it off!!!

Nana and Weazel, none of us are saying that we are perfect or that Frankie is a rotten person to her core. Many of us are, however, that Frankie has made bad decision after bad decision over the course of her lifetime, and what consquences does she face? She gets rewarded with lots of airtime on a nationally televised reality show, where she consumes the spoils of her daughter, without having actually put any work into helping her daughter earn those riches. She birthed far too many children to count, and she raised none of them, because she was incapable of doing so, and then she lashes out in anger at the people who made sure her daughter was healthy and happy. Watching this show has made my respect for Keyshia Cole grow immensely, but as for Frankie, I have none.

@ Stephen…well said. I don’t watch BET period because of crap like this as well as the other garbage they show. There’s nothing entertaining or enlightening about a (former) crackhead, her baby-factory daughter, and the very untalented Keyshia Cole making fools of themselves on national television. It’s bad enough there aren’t any positive scripted shows with African-American casts, do we really have to plummet further with idiots on reality shows?

Have you all forgotten that it was Kecia that decided to air her dirty family laundry. She knew by adding Frankie and Neffe the public will tune in and the ratings will shoot through the roof. The last season was more of a test run to see if Frankie and Neffie will have the fan base to have their own show. That’s why Kecia was not on their as much. Frankie is who she is and there is no reason why anyone should judge. They are only going to show the dirt on T.V. We have not seen the personal struggles and pain Frankie deals with because she was on drugs and was not there for any of her children. Being a recovered drug addict is hard. She has come a long way, but has an even longer way to go. Stop judging and start praying.

I love the Keisha Cole show- whether or not people like Frankie she is who she is! No one is perfect and I think that instead of trashing on her and the family show Love. So what she had 7-8 kids and did not raise them! We all have issue
s but she still is their Mother and RESPECT should be there! In today’s society we have kids raised by their Biological parents and act 10x’s worse than what we see on TV! Stop Hating! Holla

I think everyone has firm truths about their opinions. Be it expressed in a flowery way or a somewhat hard way. But either way, it’s the truth about Frankie and the show across the board. And I agree, bad behavior should not be rewarded. Frankie having a show will cause the network to have good ratings. Not because the show is so great but people love to see people like her make an a$$ of themselves and she is great at doing that. I am sure that she may be a good person but she needs to stay off the camera unless she is on the Dr. Phil show reconciling with all of her children and beginning the healing process for her and her issues and all of the dysfunctional relationships she has created. I don’t say this in judgement, it’s just time for us as a people to take pride in ourselves across the board. Internally, not with what we have been so consumed with for years..the external. If we concentrated on healing within, we wouldn’t spend money on clothes and shoes and other items that we cannot afford. We would be able to teach our children where true value is..within.

Amazingly…every family has a Frankie!
Frankie does not need, nor has she earned a show! I believe in order to achieve success, and continuous growth throughout life we must accept our Frankie’s without allowing them to attack our spirits emotionally or physically. Keisha, has apparently learned to love Frankie for who she is, not for what she lacks as a person, a mother, or a friend. I applaud, Keisha for exposing her family, despite their lack of culture for a better way of life, I believe this exposure allows her to concentrate of her career rather than agonizing over media exposure from TMZ , featuring Frankie’s… surprise interview!!!

I think the show is great, raw, real and unfiltered and just what the black community needs to take there heads out of the sand. This problem does exist where there are difficult relationships and devestation within our community due to drugs and so many other things. I think my people have been in denial for so long. And remember at the end of the day its about family loving each other and trying to get through all of the hard times. I grew up in a Huxtable type home, but my parents exposed all of there kids to all types of people, I am all the better for it. Stop being so judgemental people and pray for people and try to make a difference.

Who are you to say anything…I agree with your statement, ” She has come a long way, but has an even longer way to go. Stop judging and start praying.” Not judging, from what I have seen on Keisha’s show…Frankie’s life has been that of a selfish person, she has caused years of pain, resulting in emotional abuse to her children. Frankie is a victim of the options she choose for her life, now that her youth is diminishing she is starting to reconcile the options she selected which results to ..”accountability” This phase causes anger, feeling unjustly victimized, searching for excuses for lapse time, etc…Not Judging, still praying…..

SAR, I assume your statement, “I don’t live in the projetcs I don’t understand any of this?” is relating an environment to a persons mind set. Please understand, having a so called “ghetto” state of mind is not determined by ones address, nor zip code. There are numerous individuals that have risen above their circumstances to achieve greatness. Statistics reveal, for those that became well-known writers indulged in reading a genre of books, which greatly enhanced their writing skills…

You have to understand that under the influence of the drugs, Frankie was not able to control her not being a mother to her kids. Therefore, should she be held accountable for her mistakes her entire life? All she can do is apologize and continue to be clean, Keisha on the other hand has obviously forgiven her mother by making her a part of her show and continuing to keep her in her life. As far as her mother acting like a teenager, I mean wouldn’t you do the same?? If you spent two decades smoking crack. I mean she is finally in a position where she is able to enjoy her life, so I say let her have fun. She is ghetto by nature you cannot change who she is, and because people are so interested in drama and ignorance, we will continue to see it being exploited on television.

I have watched Bet (vh1, lifetime, and mtv) and I not impressed. Most of the crap that is on tv is worthless and caters to the masses who just don’t want or care to think anymore. And no matter what each of you thinks – as a collective we are all part of the problems in this country with our children, families, schools, churches, cities, states – everything. Quick to walk away, paying attention to ones own life when your neighbor is in trouble, not giving back to the communities we live in, but we are quick to comment on someone elses life and disfunction. I apologize if this is grammatically incorrect and I don’t have enough space to say what I am really thinking. I’ll leave my thoughts for my next paper.

Shame on the producers of that show for putting a camera on them!!

Come on now the whole importance of it is #1 Keyshia Cole made the decision to have a show about her people. Now we all don’t know it all to be true…. Shoot people know what sells. and, look it got it’s moneys worth. For all of these people to be here passing so much judgement, why don’t you tell us what’s perfect in all your lives. As said once Frankies journey has just begun and beleive it’s going to be a long one. She’ll get it together one day but for now just pray for her and post words of encouragement instead of words of pure jealousy; because it makes you no better than her to hate as you feel she does to the ones who raised Keyshia. Most of you are probably just as rude and obnigtious. Family just as wild and wish that it was your idea and not theirs. Look at alot of the other reality shows down to some of the reuion shows…it’ all an act.
