Another very good win for the Hawks. I just wish Woody would play more than what's a 7-man rotation this early in the season (against an average team no less). Even if it meant (which I certainly don't think it would) a couple of more losses early on, in the long run those wins would come back and then some. There's just so many pluses to giving your bench guys some regular burn. It keeps them happy & more focused. It also saves wear & tear on the starters which helps prevent late season injuries and keeps them fresh for the playoff run. Just as it is in business, you can't only think of today you also have to plan and prepare for the future.

Josh is becoming an all-star in front of our eyes. The media LOVE him right now, even more than Joe. It was nice to see him labeled as the face of the franchise. Business wise this is a great thing for the Hawks, because he is home grown. Hopefully, with the winning team revenue will go up, leading to more willingness of the owners to go into luxury tax next season (the only way they can bring Horford and JJ back for the next 3-4 seasons).

Tough game. As advertised earlier, Houston's tough to play because their bigs scrap so hard.

On a brighter note, we kept Aaron Brooks and Trevor Ariza from going off.

Watching some of those calls was brutal.

UGLY :

1. Our effort against them on the glass.

2. 'Nique's game-calling.

3. David Andersen.

4. Joe's struggle with his shot (and with the still-underrated Trevor Ariza's defense/Battier's defense)

5. David Andersen's game.

6. Josh Smith's fouls and frustrations.

7. David Andersen. David Andersen. David Andersen.

PRETTY

1. Josh's putback at the end.

2. Joe Johnson's big passes to Jamal, Marvin, and Horford, three of his nine total assists.

3. Marvin Williams grabbing nine rebounds, dunking on the Rockets, and stroking it from 3 point range.

4. Jamal Crawford's stroke from the outside.

5. The conspicuous silence coming from College Park.

6. The debunking of the idea that if featured more, Marvin still won't score more.

7. Marvin's teammates looking to get him going every chance they had.

8. 11-2. 'Nuff said.

Night y'all....

Context:

Marvin came into tonight at 9.0ppg, 4.5rpg, .389 FG%, .278 3P%

He left the game at 10.5ppg, 4.8rpg, .440 FG%, .348 3P%

I'm just grateful he had what hopefully is the end of his slump early on. Because those numbers would have been a lot harder to change 10 games from now.

That was an Horry-esque play by Josh. He wasn't even on Houston's radar, nobody was watching him on the last possession, and he made the big play.
