The midrange jumper is the least efficient shot in the game (the corner 3 is the most efficient). It's actually NOT an improvement if Josh is just stepping 3 feet closer for his outside shots. It's actually worse.

I hear you Nire, but I'll live with them taking jumpers, at least if they're contested. The problem is, they're swinging the ball and finding guys like Raja wide open on the perimeter. You're right though, the switching on defense is killing us. It's leaving our guys out of place. They need to tighten it up in the 2nd half.

Offensively, just way too sloppy. Taking too long getting into plays. There were a couple times when the shotclock was under 10 and we still didn't know where the ball was going, and that resulted in Smoove or Horford forcing up bad shots. They're really collapsing the lane when we get in there. And when our bigs are swinging the ball back out, guys aren't knockin down open looks.

It was just a horrible half on both ends.
Crawford's clearly not feelin it tonite, I saw him force a couple looks. Outside of JJ and maybe Marvin, nobody's really here tonite. Zaza looked alright when he was in the game.

Wabe, they aren't killing us in the paint. They're killing us from the perimeter. Check out the shot chart. Our biggest problem tonight is that the switching defense puts our big men out on the perimeter, which leaves us dangerously open to drive-and-dish plays. They get our big men out on the perimeter, take them to the lane off the dribble, our perimeter guys collapse to help, and they kick it back out (usually to Raja) to the perimeter.

It's not that there's no help. It's that our "help" is coming from the perimeter defenders - which predictably leaves the perimeter unguarded.

Unbelievable.

The Hawks just let the Bobcats drop 60 in the first half. There's no defense out there. Guys are taking wide open shots. No help when those gaurds are getting into the lane.

Fair enough, Ray.

Anyone else sick of the switching defense? Anyone else notice how much it's killing us against teams with dead-eye shooters who know how to take advantage of mismatches?
