Report: Pistons could trade Josh Smith

Former Hawk Josh Smith may have worn out his welcome after one season in Detroit.

ESPN, citing sources, reported that Detroit has swapped trade proposals with Sacramento in an attempt to trade Smith. The network reported that Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams are players the Kings may trade for Smith.

The report included this paragraph: “Skeptics will inevitably question whether the Kings should indeed take the gamble of trying to fit Smith in alongside (DeMarcus) Cousins and (Rudy) Gay, especially with three years and $40.5 million remaining on Smith’s contract from the Pistons last summer and in the wake of his struggles playing alongside Detroit big men Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.”

Smith averaged 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds last season. As during his nine seasons with the Hawks, Smith continued to struggle with 3-point shots, making only 26.4 percent of the ones he tried.

How about a pair of just-released front-row seats for the remaining 25 Atlanta Hawks home games?

Yes, sports fans, the Hawks are selling four partial-season tickets for front-row seats in Section 107, in the corner of Philips Arena between the sideline and baseline seats.

Buy just two, or buy all four of the tickets, but check your bank account before divvying up for the seats, because they are being sold for $22,902 each.

That price comes out to $916 per game per seat, but at least the tickets come with parking passes and all-you-can-eat food and drinks from the arena’s game day menu.

NBA Playoffs: How will Hawks match up against Cavaliers in conference semifinals?

After the Atlanta Hawks’ thrilling seven-game series win over the Miami Heat Sunday, fans are understandably excited about the upcoming Eastern Conference semifinals against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, starting tomorrow.
