Airline – it wasn’t Delta – loses Rory McIlroy’s clubs

It’s been a tough few weeks for Rory McIlroy.

Last month he broke up with fiance Caroline Wozniacki (by the way, it’s not too late to wager on who he will date next); he finished tied for 23rd in this weekend’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst, N.C.; and now United Airlines has lost his golf clubs.

McIlroy, plans to play in this weekend’s Irish Open, which starts Thursday at Fota Island Resort in Cork.

It’s kind of a homecoming, you know, since he is from Northern Ireland.

Well, he arrived fine, but his clubs are MIA.

Perhaps he shoulda flown Atlanta’s hometown airline Delta? But the good news is United has located McIlroy’s clubs and will deliver them tomorrow – which means he will only miss today’s practice round.

He does have an offer to borrow a pair:

What? Delta has never lost any one’s bags or clubs?

Based on my experience with over 1,000,000 air miles, there are only two kinds of baggage. Carry on and lost.

Delta has lost my luggage before. They never found it, then paid me a prorated value for everything in the bag. So, note to all. In the future, when they ask the age of the items in the bag, the answer is new for every item. They ought to be required to give you the replacement value or a standard fee ought to be set for a bag.

Delta lost my wife’s Luggage this past weekend, was direct flight all they had to do was get it fom the plane to the baggage claim. They did find it but she had to wait an hour after a 9 hour flight for them to locate it. Safe to say not a happy camper.

Someone tell Annika that I think Rory plays Nikes and they wouldn’t be too keen on him swinging Callaways for his next tournament.
