Braves players are soccer fans

The World Cup match between the Netherlands and Spain was playing on televisions in the Braves’ clubhouse and shortstop Andrelton Simmons was the most interested observer.

Simmons is a native of Curacao, which is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He twice celebrated scores by the Netherlands by running through the clubhouse shouting “Gooooal!”

The Netherlands went on to defeat Spain 5-1 in a group play match.

Braves right-hander Julio Tehran also was showing his World Cup pride. He had the soccer jersey of his native Colombia displayed prominently in his locker stall.

I’m trying to care about the World Cup. Usually someone scores just when you think it can’t get any more boring. At least they go 45 minutes with no commercials.

We love all sports here in Curacao. But every 4 years it’s soccer/voetbal time and the game is not boring if you appreciate the history, rivalries and the strategy in the game. Same with us we do not understand the whole concept of American Football (NFL) it’s the same sport as Rug-bee but with a whole lot a plastic and foam. HUP HOLLAND!!!!!

ComicBookGuy what a Jerk are you men. You better start cheering for the US team as they need all the help they can get from it’s own people. We lov baseball, American Football, Soccer and all other sports. I watch the World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals everything but like JvdB said. Nothing but nothing beats the World Cup. The Biggest Sports Event of All Time. And BY FAR. Greeting from Aruba to JvdB.
