No limits on Murray in Chiefs’ minicamp

Chiefs quarterback Aaron Murray, who had ACL knee surgery Nov. 25 after being injured in his final game with the Bulldogs, is off to a fast start with Kansas City in his rookie minicamp over the weekend.

The Chiefs are putting no limitations on his activities, coach Andy Reid told reporters covering the Chiefs.

“I mean, we’ve been keeping a close eye on him,” Reid said. “[Trainer] Rick [Burkholder] has been keeping a close eye on him. He’s done everything up to this point. He went through (Saturday’s) work and it will keep getting stronger as he goes. This was good because this was the first time there was a pass rush on him, so he had to move around a little bit. You got to see his movement ability. You have to do that in the National Football League and you have to do it out here for these camps. He did that and he did some nice things with that.

“[T]here is a little bit of rush in his face and he’s got new receivers and there are a bunch of different things that go into it,” Reid said. “It’s a tough thing.”

Murray seemed pleased.

“It’s good, feels great,” said Murray, who slipped to Kansas City in the fifth round of the draft earlier this month. “There’s no second thought. There’s no ‘be careful on the knee.’ ‘Don’t slip into a throw.’ It’s all just go out there and play and have fun and execute the play. It feels awesome. … There are no hesitations. I’m able to do everything I need to do.”

Aaron will probably have to sit a couple years. Everything I’ve heard or read is A. Smith only has a few years left in KC. Smith won’t be given another big contract.
Give Aaron a year in the nfl film room and he’ll know how to read every nfl defense. He’ll have the entire KC offense memorized by end of summer.

Murrays brother is engaged to “The Bachalorette”. Sorry for the spoiler alert.
Will Aaron be bringing his philly filly to KC?

“I mean, we’ve been keeping a close eye on him,” Reid said. Reid also added, :”I wish he was not so short, plus some of the redneck wore off on him being around all those Georgia fans over the past 8 years he was in college”.

Smith is in the last year of his contract. Aaron will want to place himself so he is the heir apparent. I can’t wait to see what he does in preseason.

@HotDawg- Learning the opposing NFL defenses should cement Murray’s backup role for several years. Not sure he’ll ever be starter material given his inability to step up in big games at the collegiate level. It would suggest a skills deficiency and/or difficulty performing under pressure.

Much pressure on CMR in 2014. 2015 will be a total rebuilding effort which is why ticket price increases are being announced now. They know they can’t wait because or window is closing fast. Our poor recruiting effort will be on full display in Fall 2015 so you guys better enjoy 2014. It’s going to be a very lean 2015 and 2016 unless you only care about the money like McGarity.

Poor recruiting? What do you think Jeremy Pruitt, Mike Bobo and Bryan McClendon are doing?

Your doom and gloom is misplaced

Our running backs and OL will be better than ever in 2015 even w/o Gurley. And if you don’t think Pruitt can coach defense then you haven’t been paying attention

I heard Reid talk about Murray and the redneck comment and laughed. Right now all is good and the coaching is fun. Reid is relaxed. Maybe we should take a queue and relax as well.
