Tech’s Attaochu signs Chargers’ deal

Former Georgia Tech linebacker Jerry Attaochu, the school’s career sacks leader, signed a four-year deal with the San Diego Chargers on Tuesday, according to Chargers.com and the Associated Press. The terms were not revealed.

The Chargers traded up to to draft Attaochu with the No. 50 overall selection in the second round. He is the fifth draft choice to come to terms quickly with the Chargers. Cornerback Jason Verrett, who was taken with the No. 25 pick, remains unsigned.

Attaochu was a three-year starter with the Yellow Jackets. He has played both outside linebacker and defensive end.

All three drafted GA Tech players (Jemea Thomas and Brandon Watts, too), have signed 4-year deals with their respective teams (for Jemea, it is with the Patriots, and Brandon, the Vikings).
