Chipper Jones rips Gators after upset

One of the Florida Gators’ best-known fans is ripping into the team after its stunning 33-23 loss to Louisville in the Sugar Bowl Wednesday night.

Chipper Jones took to Twitter to express the frustration that many Gator fans are feeling after watching Florida fall behind 24-3 in the first half and 33-10 in the second half before falling 10 points short in a late comeback attempt.

“Never seen a more undisciplined football team in my life. As a life long UF fan, that was embarrassing,” Jones wrote Thursday.

And then: “I can handle getting beat, but to show ur [fannies] in front of the whole country? Sure hope the inmates ain’t running the asylum down there!”

Well, FL was in a no-win situation last night. If they win, nobody gives a clip about it because they are supposed to win.

Gator fans need to give credit where it is due. You don’t seem to want to accept the fact that you were going up against one of the premiere coaches and defensive minds in the game in Charlie Strong. Not only that, but Strong knows the Gators inside and out and Louisville’s personel isn’t exactly bad. Their defense had strength and speed and Driskell was under pressure all night long. Just don’t be like Nebraska, where you tell everyone how much better you are than a team that just whipped your rear ends. Just take, bury it, and prepare for next season!

They’re not about to credit Strong; they’re too embarrassed that their team didn’t hire him.

My hope for the new year is that at least 1 SEC fan realizes that there are other conferences with better teams than the so called mighty SEC. SEC fans never give other conferences and teams credit….yes they may get some of the highest rated recruits but they also get the most undisciplined athletes as evidenced by the number of personal fouls called during SEC games. Georgia and Florida certainly showed that during both their bowl games. Of course it’s fun to watch those teams fall during the bowl games and it gives those fans 9 months to rebuild the hype. SEC, you are not the only strong conference and there are plenty of teams that can do exactly what Louisville did to the Gators, if you would only play them. Talent doesn’t always mean wins….it just means you have MORE potential to win….discipline wins and UL was a well coached team with guys that play as a TEAM

Braves fan, but not a Chipper fan (as a person) – but anyone saying stupid stuff like, “I didn’t know Chipper was a UF graduate!”, has it occurred to you that Chipper has been a professional baseball player since a few days after he graduated high school in 1990? Maybe he could’ve squeezed in a few online courses, once those became available sometime in the past ten years at many schools, but come on.

A lot of Gator fans were upset by the way the Gators played last night……but real Gator fans are not questioning what is going on in Gainesville. Obviously, Chipper does not follow what is going on in Gainesville very well. Stupid twitter post by him concerning the players and coaches at Florida. I think Elam showed his arse several times during the game, and was a smart arse with the press after the game. He had not been like that all year, so I have no idea what was up with him. And I find it funny that Georgia fans are rippoing Gator players when you have the worse thug that has ever played college football….Rambo. And…I happened to notice that the Cap One Bowl game was missing fannies in a lot of empty seats in Orlando as well……and I wonder how many on here ripping Gator fans had their fannies in the seats in those seats in Orlando. Probably none. As a Gator fan, I had no interest in spending $1500 to travel to NO and watch a meaningless game…..and I am sure many of the Gator players felt the same about the game. It should have been two top 5 teams in the game….but the BCS has totally ruined the bowl games….as most bowl games this year are far less than full of fans….including the Outback as well. The entire upper deck of the Orange Bowl was empty. The entire bowl system needs to be restructured if it is going to survive for sure. But you people and Chipper can continue to take pot shots at Florida and Muschamp…..but true Gator fans…..CHIPPER…..know the good things Muschamp is doing down in Gainesville and will continue to do. By the way……ADAMS and WALKER will be visiting Gainesville this weekend.

ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, who believes you have to be a GRADUATE of a particular school to be a fan isn’t doing much with their own EDUCATION, even if it came from SAID SCHOOL. Many of us, like me, have MULTIPLE degrees from MULTIPLE schools, and our favorite college didn’t offer our major/degrees in our chosen profession. Also, many of us, like me, moved away from our home state before we graduated high school and didn’t really have a chance to attend our favorite school.
Appreciate that people are fans and don’t put so much emphasis on whether or not a fan actually GRADUATED from the school they pull for. Otherwise, no school would come close to actually filling their own stadium on game day.

The ’some’ non-classy Florida fans can dish it out but they can’t take it. In reality, the gators sucked eggs in the Sugar Bowl and the fanbase knows it. Maybe if the football team played with the same intensity last night as those gator fans trying to defend this embarrassment, well, maybe it would have turned out different. Well, it didn’t and here we are. Maybe Saban was right and Georgia DID deserve this berth instead of Florida.

Gators are NOT the premier team in their own division and definitely are not close to where they were when Spurrier or Tebow was there. They are getting EXCEPTIONAL recruits but the team is not as good as their ranking indicated. They did over-achieve this year, I will give them that however. Florida should be better in the next couple years if the new OC can get the job done. But their coach is a clown who can coach defense and but is way over the top trying to put fear in his players and the refs. That is going to get old FAST and if he doesnt get it all together he is going to burn out of this job fast. Head coaching is a lot more than overdoing an attitude. He has a lot to learn including game preparation. Florida was terribly prepared and it became obvious to the Muschamp and he blew up because he knew he did not have his team ready for a big game…he blew up and his players followed…

BUT it was only a bowl game and Florida was likely better because they had better athletes BUT the were not ready and they got embarrassed AND they embarassed themselves with their thug attitudes when the writing was on the wall…they werent prepared. Coaches were too busy recruiting. They might learn from it but the thug attitudes were embarassing…..

Columbus

January 4th, 2013

Tampa Gator….the coach and players embarassed themselves, the school and the SEC and the Sugar Bowl. They acted like thugs towards the refs and the other players. Huge embarassment and Chipper dont have to keep up with jack to realize that FACT. Embarassment to EVERYONE INVOLVED. CLASSLESS is appropriate among other adjectives….anybody can see they had none and that is all Chipper saying. That falls on the Head Coach….he had no class and neither does his players. That is their losing identity as of now and I am sure they will be working on changing that label from this point forward.

Chirp all you want Tampa….talk is cheap. You lost to a Big East school in a BCS bowl. These young players hadnt experienced a BCS bowl. They went to New Orleans and played in the Superdome and were not prepared, leaving receivers wide open on crossing patterns, and their defense got burnt and the QB looked atrocious as did the blocking and you have no WR’s. You got some coming and the QB will get better after taking his lumps. He will grow from it next year since he really is a running QB they are making into a pocket passer. Takes time. Gator D however didnt show up against good offenses. Their stats were awesome but they played some one dimensional offenses except for 2 games really. They won using a formula of getting the lead and wearing the other team down in the 2nd half and running the ball and eating clock. But when that didnt work they were in trouble. Talk is cheap. UF is recruiting really good but until it comes together and you win the big ones, its all talk. Muschamp isnt winning any big ones yet….but hes inexperienced and he might learn from taking his lumps too…but UNTIL then, talk is cheap. So is the class of the Gators and their coach at this point and the whole world seen that embarassing baboon Muschamp Wed night….they were not prepared and acted classless and deserved to lose. Too worried about recruiting and not preparing and they embarassed themselves by acting like classless thugs and got embarassed by Louisville from the Big …..East! Show it on the field is all I got to say. Forget winning the SEC East the next 4-5 years. Got to grow up first….

Chipper was right in all he said. Hey, I have been sort of a Gator fan myself (though a lifelong Tech man). They did embarrass themselves. The SEC as a whole just doesn’t play outside its conference for a reason. It blows the mystic; these guys are no better or worse than the rest of the country. Then when bowl season comes around and they lose to a commoner the company line is they didn’t want to be there as bad as the other team.

Georgia has tried to pick it’s out of conference opponents the last few years to have the look of a team thinking of being a national power, but not playing anyone who could beat them. It is tricky and they have some of their worse loses in this routine. When they lost to Colorado a few years back they blame it on not having Green. The other 21 high school All Americans showed up but we didn’t have that one that would have made the difference, against arguablely the worse team in division one football. Two years ago it was B State that schooled them.

If ND beats Alabama, who is a far better coached team that any in the SEC, this gig is up. But already I am hearing the 30 day lay off is killing them, like two teams don’t have the same conditions to play under.
