That is a big blow. What will it do to existing recruiting efforts?

Always a bad time to lose anyone on the coaching staff….Coach Gardner has done a great job at UGA…but I really think this is a good time for a change….New blood….young guns….makes it easier to pull in some of these young dudes….Look at Smart at Florida…Strong at Louville…We might lose a couple of really good ones this year….but we will gain in the over all picture….you’ll see!!

About time!!!!!!! Old Rodney had become more and more slack every year. Check out the recruiting sites. When you look at the players UGA is recruiting, you never see Gardner’s name as the UGA contact. He is at home sleeping on the couch. Good luck with the old hag AU. UGA will be better off with that money spent elsewhere.

and yes….Aubrun is always trying to copy a good Georgia System….man these people there are struggling….they are just trying to slow our recruiting down….and it will hurt a little….not going to help them from cheating….don’t think Rod will follow their pattern….

What part of Auburn’s system is remotely similar to UGA’s, different offense, different defense….more undefeated seasons

bye bye rodney, this is a win win. you go back to where you played and we are less of a d-line coach whose position players couldnt stop the run. As far as recruiting , what current dawgs are because of you, and who will go with you? Adios rodney —– thx for your time. Go Dawgs! And p.s. — You can still have those Thanksgiving dinners at Auburn.

Auburn is trying to copy? First, he played at Auburn and said being head coach at Auburn is his dream job. Second, we had tiger walk and you guys have tried to copy it, poorly! We actually show up. We started “tiger prowl” for recruiting and all of a sudden you create “dog night” Careful who you label a copier..

This bothers me because it’s so close to signing day and his coaching & recruiting position is where we are waiting on some great potential commits; he has done well by UGA; however, I’ve grown increasingly weary over the years of his threats to leave for Auburn to get payand/or position upgrades; to his credit I suppose, he has usually gotten what he asked for; but I shed no tears.

Best thing to happen to the Dawgs in a while. Gardner has been getting lazy on going after the biggest recruits in the southeast. Maybe now we can get a more dedicated and more aggressive recruiter.I think this is a blessing for the dawgs.

Garner = Trooper Taylor'$ replacement!

Garner WILL be the new ‘Trooper Taylor’ @ AU!!

Former AU Coach Terry Bowden said…

“So I hired Wayne Hall. One week on the job, Hall came in with a ledger of players who have been paid, who paid the money, how much money and when it was paid. He said we’ve still got 9-12 players that we’re paying $600 per month”.

“We paid then $12,000-$15,000 to sign. We sign about four every year that we pay.(Former assistant coach RODNEY) GARNER paid most of the players. He was paid when he was a player at Auburn.(Stacey) Danley is the assistant compliance guy, and he was paid when he was a player. I broke the rules. I said pay it off, and it will never happen again”.

Hall said “OK, but you will change your mind.” Katherine came to Auburn as my assistant, but she worked for Colonial. We were real close. I told Lowder “We have cash all over.” Lowder said “I told Wayne not to collect more than we had to have to pay the players.” Wayne had a safe in his house wherehe kept the money. Within two weeks of me being hired they told me about paying Jelks.

Nothing was done without Lowder knowing. I will go under oath and say that Lowder looked me in the eyes and said, “I didn’t want Wayne to collect more money than we needed to pay the players.” I was hiding a dirty secret. We were paying (star running back and current Washington Redskin) Steve Davis and his cousin the fullback.

As far as I’m concerned, he has been a superb coach at Georgia and will be missed. It’s a promotion and the next step to being a head coach.

Congrats to Coach Gardner and his family…

This is fanastic news. We gave up nearly 1,000 yards rushing over our last 3 games. Our defensive line got exposed in the SECCG. Those same guys will be stuffing the run on Sundays.
I’m worried about Nebraska and their running game. Seriously. Our inability to stop the run is a glaring weakness that other teams are going to continue to hammer.
PLUS: Garner recruited in a very sloppy manner. We need to do more homework on who we are recruiting. Why do we have so few scholorship players on the team? Because much of our recruiting efforts are wasted on losers. Garner can recruit losers. More of the same from our friends at Auburn. This represents our opportunity to improve our defense and continue to change the character of our team. Coach Richt; please use this as an opportunity to improve in both areas.
