Still looking for that perfect Christmas present for the basketball nut on your list?

How about a pair of just-released front-row seats for the remaining 25 Atlanta Hawks home games?

Yes, sports fans, the Hawks are selling four partial-season tickets for front-row seats in Section 107, in the corner of Philips Arena between the sideline and baseline seats.

Buy just two, or buy all four of the tickets, but check your bank account before divvying up for the seats, because they are being sold for $22,902 each.

That price comes out to $916 per game per seat, but at least the tickets come with parking passes and all-you-can-eat food and drinks from the arena’s game day menu.

For that much money, I want to be able to participate in warm ups and shoot all technical fouls for the Hawks.

Happy Holidays – that is most certainly the case BUT those wins also include a road win against OKC, and a home win against LA Clippers. The fact is, they are beating the teams they should be beating and making all other games close. you gotta keep in mind that half of this team is new.

$3664 per game for 4 people or.....

what else could you do with the money for just one game or about 3 hours?

Let’s see, how about a pretty nice weekend about anywhere in the US…or buying something pretty neat…or if you’re so wealthy that money doesn’t matter, just donating it to a good cause and helping someone.

A fool and his or her money…

People complain about the price of these tickets, but it’s all relative. What do you think Jack Nicholson or Spike Lee pay for their seats? These are probably a bargain by comparison. They’re mot for regular folks.

In other breaking news – AJC Sports has run out of ideas for articles and would like to insight angry comments from fans that can’t afford expensive tickets.

“Insight”? Don’t you mean “incite”? A better choice would be “foment”

Way to perpetuate the stereotype of a sub par Georgia education system.

The bigger problem is the different pricing for different teams. Thats just plain stupid. Of all the sports teams Hawks are definitely the worst fan experience of them all. I like hoops as much as anyone but the Hawks make me not want to give them my money… free tix or no tix.

If anybody gives this ownership group a dime they are crazy. The real basketball fans left years ago and are not coming back till this team is sold, if then! This well has been soiled!!!!!!!!!!

Swat Native….you are correct, these seats are not for regular folks. But it is the regular folks that make a franchise viable. Not enough regular folks around to keep this ship from sinking!

They’re obviously trying to attract the hip-hop/”balluh” element trying to get on Bossip or TMZ.

I was a Thrasher fan and a (still am)Hawks fan. Would go to 5 games each every year. When the Atlanta Ass Clown owners lied about how they were going to build Championship bball and hockey teams and failed to do it, they lied. Can not and will not give them a dime. I will watch my Hawks on TV. Hawks are pretty good despite LD. Got Philly tonite, then the Falcons/Lions tomorrow nite. Nice weekend leading up to CHRISTmas!!!

I don’t know if I’d bother going to an NBA arena if they paid ME $23,000. I used to love basketball was an ardent Hawks fan, and played it in high school, but the entire culture surrounding the game, especially at the pro level, has changed since then. Individual players are hedonistic prima donnas who command (and demand, as in “What should I do?”) more media attention than the actual teams, and believe me, the hip hop/rap atmosphere makes a LOT of people deliberately avoid the NBA anymore. If you’re not marketing to a general audience you’re going to corner yourself into a financially dangerous niche, and that’s exactly what the NBA has done.

Why?

If I wanted (which I don’t), I can see 10 trashy, tattooed, black guys chase a basketball down a street in atlanta. Why pay. Or I could call the cops and see em scatter.

Corporations will pay for that crap, as some bozo exec will write it off as a work expense.
And idiots wonder why those corporations products cost so much. One example, right there.
