Bad night for Steve Young

It wasn’t a great night for Steve Young.

The Hall of Fame quarterback suffered a couple of gaffes in his analysis of the Houston Texans’ 42-14 defeat by the New England Patriots.

In his post-game comments on ESPN, Young talked about how NFL regular-season games don’t necessarily mean anything in the postseason, when Houston and New England could meet again. “This is the NBA,” he said, “where the regular season is kind of all over the place.”

NBA? Really? Co-host Suzy Kolber looked toward the camera and smiled, but Young never corrected the error.

In another spot, he criticized the lackluster performance by the Texans, a team “that think they have the biggest [male body part] in the league.”

Some viewers thought Young said “biggest stick in the league,” but no one could really explain what that would even mean.

Maybe it’s just part of Young’s schtick.

Wow, this is garbage. Young was making an analogy when he said “This is the NBA,” and anyone with a brain would have known to not take his word choice literally. And he did say “stick,” which is a PG-13 version of what he meant.

There should be a blog critiquing your crappy writing, but no one cares about you.

I honestly thought I heard him say, “This isn’t the NBA”. I don’t see a problem with his delivery last evening at all. However, I truly believe this entire article was a big strectch! Not newsworthy at all. Try again Provano…this was not a good effort!

I agree with Worthless Point. The NBA reference was on purpose, saying the NFL regular season is equivalent to the NBA regular season, where it doesn’t matter how you play during the regular season as long as you get in the playoffs.

Joel, you deserve to be knocked down a few rungs for this article. Get your facts in order. How’d you get this job?

Perhaps he was referencing Theodore Roosevelt with his “big stick” comment. Look it up if you don’t know any anything about American history.

Bad night for Joel Provano

It wasn’t a great night for Joel Provano.

The Hall of Shame editor suffered a couple of gaffes in his analysis Steve Young.

In his unintelligible blog comments on AJC.com, Provano misinterpreted the meaning of Young’s comment about how NFL regular-season games don’t necessarily mean anything in the postseason, when Houston and New England could meet again. “This is the NBA,” Young said, “where the regular season is kind of all over the place.”

Provano wasn’t smart enough to put together that Young was making an analogy.

In another spot, Provano took Young’s “(they) think they have the biggest [male body part] in the league” comment out of context.

All viewers aside from Provano knew Young said “biggest stick in the league,” but Provano couldn’t really explain what that would even mean. It’s not that hard to understand if you’re not an idiot, though – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Stick_ideology

Maybe it’s just part of Provano’s fixation with the male anatomy.
