Payback was sweet for Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy Sunday.
Hardy was upset when television cameras caught Falcons QB Matt Ryan cursing at the Panthers sideline after Atlanta’s week 4 win, telling them to get off the Georgia Dome field. But Sunday, following Carolina’s 30-20 victory in Charlotte, Hardy returned the sentiment, walking across the field and screaming for the Falcons to get off Carolina’s turf.

Carolina coach Ron Rivera tries to restrain his players on the field after the game as Falcons coach Mike Smith (right) looks on. (AP photo)
That brought a response from Falcons kicker Matt Bryant, who yelled for Hardy to “Enjoy watching us in January,” alluding to the playoffs, which Atlanta (11-2) has qualified for and Carolina (4-9) won’t be a part of.
(See the video above from WSOC-TV and Channel 2 Action News. Note that offensive language has been excluded.)
Hardy did not comment again after leaving the field, exiting the locker room before reporters were allowed in.
What do you think of Hardy’s antics? How did you like Bryant’s response?

I have no problem with this at all and I am a Falcons fan. We can’t get excited and pumped when our QB says the exact same thing. I was glad when Matt Ryan showed some enthusiasm and told them to get off our field. We can’t now come on here and call the Panthers names. I did not see one post that said Matt Ryan was wrong for doing it, lets not be hypocrites now. We got beat by a division rival that has nothing to play for but to blemish our record and we couldn’t answer the bell when we have a lot more to play for in this season. Suck it up and move on, the defend champs are next and we need to step it up.

You have a very good outlook on this, as a Panther fan I was a little upset, but it is football. I was more upset that we lost in the 1st meeting, then what Ryan said. I wanted us to win, and for one of ours to do the same thing. Its a DIV game, crap talking is part of the game.

Yes, the Panthers will be watching the Falcons in January… and it’ll be for just one game. And people will look back and ask where did the Falcons go wrong and they’ll point to this game.
And in 5 years, nobody will remember the Falcons had a good regular season. But they’ll probably still show Cam’s run.

“Turn about is fair play.” I guess I am more concerned with Hardy’s lack of orignality, but the Falcons should not have been in the position to be”run off the field’ when the game was over. Then they were run off the field all game long. and when you lose like Falcons did today, oh well!
I am concerned that the Falcons are a “paper tiger” based on the lack of tackling, interceptions, shakey ground game that we have seen recently. I am along time fan and want to believe, but championship caliber teams do not lose to a lesser opponent and then get disrespected in the end.

All childish – including Ryans remark when Carolina was in Atlanta. The play on the field should be all that needs to be spoken about how well a team does or doesn’t do. These guys are a little past the playground stage of bravado and one up manship. If you are playing in a professional league – be professional – on and off the field.

Atlanta is one of the worst cities for sports in all of America. They have lost two NHL teams, during the world series you could walk up and hour before the game and get good tickets. Atlanta Hawks crowds are abysmal too. The only good thing in Atlanta is I-85 leaving the city! I can not wait to see the falcons go 0-1 in the playoffs!

OK OK. I’m not defending the Birds, they brought this on themselves. It’s time for a gut check, plain and simple. I’m disappointed in the preparation and execution, things that are supposed to be professionally done. You knew going into the game 2 of your D starters were questionable, but Nolan elected to go with a vanilla defense and failed to adjust.
The players failed to execute, but this looked like piss poor game prep on the coaching staff. Next year on a 10 day break, perhaps we shouldn’t phone it in. That extra time off just bit us in the ass today.

I agree with Bryan in Smyrna. However, it has amazed me when we loose a game it is like we have done something so wrong. It was one game against a team that has played us well before. Please spare me all of the same as last year crap!! Last year was last year and leave it there. Case and point most of you think 49’s are a good football team. Why, they lost and tied with the Rams…I will say it again the Rams. They won a playoff game last year..Last year…The Texans went into overtime two weeks str8 against Jacksonville and the Lions. Bad calls got them both of those victories. If you are a Falcon fan get on the bus or get off. Stop the riding the fence and the first time something does not go our way we same ole team. True Falcon fans know this is a different team we have never been in the playoffs consecutively. Come on, you have to be in the playoffs to have a chance at a Super Bowl…

You guys are fools man, if you want to come on a website and start running your mouths, at least get a clue to understand WHO STARTED THE TRASH TALKING! It was, of course, the Falcons pretty boy douche bag QB Matty Ice Cold (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWjRk0L5PG0).
It’s ok, you’re all mad because your overrated team got owned and more than likely go winless in the playoffs again because you’ll be exposed just like you were today and you’re “superstar” QB will get shrinkage in the 4th AGAIN. Hopefully you’ll at least score more than 2 points this year.
While over in Charlotte, yes, we will miss the playoffs of course, but we’ll be reloaded with healthy guys, new management and coaching staff, and another high draft pick. You retards won’t even pick in the first round…I hope Julio was worth it!
You’re a sorry bunch of idiots who have no clue how exposable your team was until you flew on Cloud 9 to Charlotte and got bent over and raped by the most potential packed, well rounded quarterback in the NFL today.

Okay, let’s be clear. The Falcons spotted Carolina a 23 point lead, and Carolina won 30-20. I think it’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that if Atlanta had played two halves of football instead of one, they win that game possibly going away. What I hope this game was is a wakeup call that you have to come to compete for FOUR quarters, not one, not two, FOUR. As for Carolina, they could put everything into this game, what else do they have to do except get ready for next season.

I agree with Miguel. The Bird’s earned everythng they heard. Let us hope that this wakes up our roster and makes them start playing some football. This is certainly not the first game that Atlanta has looked horrible, and probably won’t be the last. Sorry ATL fans, but Ryan might be coaching material, but he is missing that “something” that makes an elite NFL quarterback. To Mike Nolan, this week should be dedicated to learning how to tackle again. Very sorry effort on Sunday. And to Michael Turner, hang in there until we can draft Lacey out of UA(damn tough to say being an AU grad). Turner has looked tired for 2 years, time to do something about it. And finally to Mike Smith, create some urgency in that team of yours or you will once again be going 1 and out.

Understanding that a couple of key defensive starters did not play (WM25 and AS22) I thought this first half was pathetic. This is a vision of Dirk Keotter. He stunk in Jacksonville and he’s slowing us down here. I swear he’s like a kid that found his daddy’s keys and can’t decide which way to go. Ryan had respectable numbers yesterday and with more than one half of a defensive effort we may have done better. It makes me sick when our 2 losses are to the 2 worst teams in the league. It makes me sick when we go out and don’t stand up for pride when that loud mouth Hardy started his crap. My guess is the Panthers don’t win another game all year. My other guess is if we don’t figure out which way to go on offense and our defense play with more pride in themselves our post season will be quick.
Let’s put this on in the past and play like men this week!

During the game, the “get off my field” comment came up, one of the announcers was asked how he thought the Panthers would react after the game if they won. The guy said he thought they would be classy. I busted out laughing.
I told my son that Oliver Hardy would be running all over the place telling every Falcon near a camera to get the blank of his field.
Ryan said it once, in the heat of the moment, definately not knowing a camera was on him. Hardy said dozens of times making sure the cameras were on him.

Panthers fans are so cute. Boasting about “potential” and a high draft pick. Listen, sometimes the best teams lose to the worst teams, and that’s what happened yesterday. All the credit to the Panthers, we got dominated in that first half. We’re 11-2 and the Panthers are 4-9. That’s all that’s important. Enjoy talking about “potential” for the next 10 years while you keep scratching your head at why the Panthers aren’t any better considering all those “high draft picks.” Get used to the bottom of the division.

What ever happened to the concept of professional men acting like professional men? This is just another example of the problem with sports today. You have these jackasses like Newton that are all about taking them TEAM me slogan and turning it into team ME. It is getting pervasive in all levels even high school. Back in the dark ages when I played, we were taught that the team came first and the only thing that mattered were wins and losses. In a basketball game it didn’t matter if I scored 2 or 22 as long as the team won. I try to instill this attitude into my son who is presently a high school athlete but with what I see at all ballgames from the rec leagues to the pro level I feel like I am a voice in the wilderness. My enthusiasm for watching sports on TV gets lower and lower every year due to the antics I watch by these so called “professionals”.

Someone might have said this already but Hardy says “you lost to a sorry team today” Classic, calls his team sorry while trying to talk trash. FAIL!!! And the difference between what Ryan did and what Hardy is doing is that Ryan did it from the sideline (happened to be caught on camera) and not walking through the other team and saying it repeadetly. Hardy is a moron. Teams that are 4-9 don’t talk trash no matter what, especially to a team that Cam had never beaten until that day. He had a right to be emotional, that was their big game of the year. Falcons will need to be better heading into playoffs.

I love my Falcons and the evident when you look at my name, but we clearly can’t handle too much time off. We always come back and start games slow. It’s tough because even I can’t figure these guys out sometimes. I still think we are a good team. The one glaring thing I do notice is that, when Matt doesn’t have good protection he tends to freak a little bit. When he’s well protected and has some time he’ll pick teams apart. I know you all have heard this before, but I think our OL needs to step up! I think there well be a couple changes on that line next year. We looked like we were taking a game off or something. Our defense was on the field too long(just like the last few games). The offense is not playing to it’s full potential. I’m hoping Dirk is saving some stuff for the playoffs, because if he isn’t we may be in trouble. Now, these last 3 games don’t look so promising for us. One other thing….WHY DIDN’T WE GO TO THE NO HUDDLE SOONER. I just don’t get it.

They are all professional atheletes. They all get paid. Any team in the NFL can beat any other, particularly in a 16 game regular season. Get to the post season and and show up.
The Giants have 5 losses, were they finished after getting humiliated by the Bengals? Or losing to the hapless Eagles? Or Cowboys? Or Redskins? Or Steelers?
Were the Packers finished after getting boatraced by the Giants? Or losing to the Colts and their rookie QB? Or maybe their loss to SeaChickens? Or at home the Niners? Or the gift win the got on the Lions last night.
San Fransisco looked great with their 0-1-1 record against the Rams. Their 26-3 home loss to the Giants was also a gem. The Vikings got them too?
Great teams don’t lose right?
Gimme a f’n break. Falcons need to get their crap together for sure, but calm down folks.
The Panthers played a great game yesterday and won. Tip your hat to the victor and stop being a whiner. It would be a more meaningful game if they had managed to beat teams like the Chiefs. It would matter if they hadn’t already lost 9 times.

When the defense plays almost all of the first half you will get TIRED. It will beat you down. And the reason we don’t have a running game is because we don’t have any run blocking. Rodgers is a good running back but if their isn’t a seam to run you don’t go anywhere. As far as the trash talking, forget it. ALL OF YOU FAKE ARSE FALCON FANS STAY OFF THE BANDWAGON, I REPEAT! STAY OFF THE BANDWAGON! WE DO NOT NEED YOU. BUNCH OF WUSSIES! The going get tough and yall want to cry. Hell, we are still 11-2. And as far as the playoffs, nobody knows what the falcons are going to do. Did you all know last year we’d be 11-2 at this point this year. Heck no! So what makes you think you know what we’re going to be doing in january?….Exactly, you don’t! To all the true falcon fans, just sit back and enjoy the ride. One thing is for sure, at least we know we’ll be playing in january. We’ll be just fine.

For an “overmatched team”, the Panthers put the Falcons away handily.. As for the trash talk, it’s not like Ryan didn’t start that. They were talking about Ryan’s comment in Charlotte all week long and it was essentially a rallying cry for the Panthers. I’m not surprised Hardy couldn’t restrain himself from returning the comment although I would have preferred that he show he has more class than Ryan. I guess he doesn’t.

The last few bloggers got close to the truth. Of course there was going to be a let down for the Falcons. The clinched the division championship last week so there was no urgency this week. It is tough to get up every week in a 16-game season. No team has gone all the way to the SB without losing a game since the NFL went to the 16-game format. Are the Falcons a perfect team – noooo. But strap ‘em up and go back and get again next week. This game really didn’t mean much to the Falcons. OK – so it meant more the Panthers. The Falcons are just biding their time waiting for the playoffs.

We own the Panthers and this is the NFL where all teams have good players,so a loss is OK.The Panther team and fans are pathetic.Watched a segment on ESPN when Scam was in Pro Bowl and NONE of the players had any respect for Scam at all. They were blizting to hit him because of his mouth, what a PUNK

Got it all rationalized, do you, “Cam is a loser”? I’m glad you’re OK with it because it sure happened. You got your heads handed to you on a platter. The only thing missing were the apples for your mouths. So sad, too bad; must suck to be you. If you got beat decisively by one of the worst teams in the league, what does that make you?

At least yesterday’s game should show the Falcon organization just how lacking the team is in offensive and defensive linemen. It’s great that we have such a good record, but look closely how close we are to having a terrible record. In all due respect, we don’t have the players that we should have. The skill position players can’t get it done if there are no offensive linemen and no pass rush and no run stoppers.

This all could have been avoided by Matty 2 points keeping his mouth shut. Nobody said Sugar Honey Ice Tea to him when he was talking trash. Now somebody says something back and suddenly we’re low-class. hypocrites, the lot -of you.
And we’ll be watching you in January, but do the NFC South a favor…. try and score a FIELD GOAL this time. *face palm*

@Roger you’re an idiot Cam is better than Matt no doubt the only reason Matt is good is his receivers there is nothing special about him and Steve Smith is an animal he deserves to showboat b/c he makes awesome plays and lets not forget our first meeting Hardy and Johnson sacked Matt 8 times! Please dont say things you dont comprehend

I don’t like that Matty did it but to compare the level of class between HOW they did the classless acts is absurd. One the sideline by yourself VS. walking through players is NOT the same.
Hardy’s version is the kinda stuff that can get your chin LaGarrett BLOUNTED!!

Are you kidding me?! Hardy earned and deserved to say whatever he wanted! He and the Panthers played with heart and outplayed each and every Falcon on each and every play. Falcons were out-coached and out-played. And it was no fluke – the Panthers ARE better than the Falcons; fortunately for Atlanta, we’ve had an easy schedule and gotten some lucky breaks this season. Imagine if Cam had Jones and Roddy – Panthers would be Super Bowl-bound!

No problem with it at all, during a football game there is smack talk thoughout, no problem with Matt saying it, no problem in the retaliation.
However, does SCAM have to celebrate everytime he gets a first down? I mean really? Act like you have been there before. That’s why no one likes this dude. But I guess when you have only won 4 games, you gotta celebrate the small victories. Either way, enjoy your win and the cellar.

Greg Hardy has no class. He is no even a good player. Even if Matt Ryan said what he said, he’s supposed to be professional. Be the better man any tell te media how you won and embarrassed the Falcons. If that is the only way he can motivate himself for a game, then he and the Panthers will win only one game a year.

What can you say? When you’re a 4-win team & you’re already planning your January vacation, splitting the season series with the division champs is your equivalent of winning the Super Bowl. I think it’s hilarious. Can you say “inferiority complex”?

Panthers played THE EXACT SAME teams the Falcons played except for Seahawks+Bears. We played Arizona and Detroit. If you give them those 2 wins that puts them at 6. Still 5 games back.
They were better than us for one half Sunday. Over the course of the season….. #NOTSOMUCH

No, Carolina was better than Atlanta for all but 2 minutes in the first game and all yesterday. Ya Carolina is pretty bad this season and we will be watching Atlanta’s one game in January, but we will all be watching other teams play on February 3, 2013.
Now, back to the subject at hand. Matt Ryan should have known better than telling the cats to get off the field…it didn’t work when Michael Vick told the dogs to get off the field (and in the lake), and it didn’t work out so well for Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan isn’t going to jail or anything but he did get his ass kicked yesterday…they did something else to Mike Vick’s ass. And yes a guy with an acl thats been torn 3 times intercepted “Matty Ice’s” pass to clinch the game. Mike Vick knows about all things torn and clinching too.

The Falcons have one bad game and the fans are ready to run and hide. Well, this Falcon team is different and Eli Manning will be on the receiving end next week. Keep dreaming Eli, you’ve been beaten 5 times this season. This year the Falcons move forward.

Hey cool1, is Greg Hardy going to be Mike Vick broke, like when he filed for bankruptcy and left Atlanta, or is he going to be Evan Holyfield broke, when the bank took his Atlanta manshion?…not the right city to give financial advice Cool1, especially to a 24 year old who has been in the league for only 3 years and has the majority of his career left….#See Charlotte-home of bank of america

Glad to see the Falcons loose and be treated the way they treat others…As a Saints fan I was disgusted the way our team and fans were treated prior to the game at the GA Dome. Anyone who has EVER been to NOLA for a game knows while we are passionate about our Saints we will still feed you and hand you a beer to watch the game with us. Win or loose no one throws eggs or starts fights with fans or players…

For all you new comers, in 1966 I attended the first falcon game, I have seen it all in the last 45 years, yea, we wil not win with Matt, he is afraid of getting hit, many holes were open, but he insisted on standing in the pocket, well go figure, watch Cam, and the Kid from SF, RG3, there is a new breed of QB’s coming into the NFL, happy feets will not win any play off games, Talk to you in Jan 2013, after One and Done, 45 years, trust me.

Hey Panthers, Sham Newton does not have potential. He is not well rounded and will never be an elite quarterback. He is overrated, ignorant, and will never lead your sorry excuse for a football team to a winning record. I understand your frustration though after 4 consecutive losing seasons. What I don’t understand is your optimism, you have had a top 5 pick for 4 straight years and have managed to field the same sorry team year after year, only adding an overrated retard that thinks losing equates to superman.

He’s mad.. I would be to if I was a panthers player or fan. The falcons went out and played at 50%. I dont no why.. my only guess is they new that carolina meant nothing but another W and they didnt want to hurt anyone coming into the NY game. Hopefully thats what it was. Cam newton is a good qb, however, its really hard for me to like someone that likes himself as much he does.
